HOSCAR

September 13, 2023

We're Back!

After a refreshing summer break the HOSCAR group is back in action. Fantasy Raceways hosted the first racing of the season with SS E-Fray and Nostalgia leading us off. Only four lanes of the fast Fantasy layout were used to make sure we had an adequate number of marshals.

Nostalgia is replacing the INDY Class for 2023-24. The newer HOSCAR members are not familiar with these cars so there was an air of uncertainty as to what to expect in the first race of the year. The first Heat ran very smoothly, so if there were any nervous drivers it did not impact the racing. Dave Failing and Steve Dickinson were in the rotation early and set the pace for the rest of the group. It would be Dave setting the target at 59.31 laps as he watched the final couple of Heats. David Vickers had his GT40 pressing for lead, and with some vocal encouragement from Dave in the final stint, he brought it home for the win. Steve held on to third place with Bob Dickinson and Jeff Eve rounding out the top five.

SS E-Fray was at the starting line next. There was some great racing in this one right from the start. Dave, Jeff Eve and Rich Joslin were locked up in some multiple lap, side by side racing. It was unclear just who would come out on top. Then Steve joined the fray, pun intended. With the Dickinson built rocket ship blowing away the fastest lap to that point by .5 seconds, it was clear that the early leaders were suddenly in a race for second place at best. Steve continued to crank out consistently fast laps and won going away by five plus. Dave held off Rich to take second place by just over a lap. Jeff Eve, with another good race, was in fourth place just sections off of the podium. David completed the top five.

Thank you to our hosts, Bobbi and Jeff Eve. It was a well run event and a great start to the new racing season.

The group travels to Seabreeze Speedway next week for more exciting HO racing action.

HOSCAR

September 20, 2023

Seven members trekked to Seabreeze Speedway for Wide-Skinny and TFX racing. Host Dave Failing had the facility in fine condition. There was no evidence of the summer long construction the Seabreeze complex had undergone. OK, there was one small, unrelated hitch. The computer crashed and burned.

The one member in attendance not eligible for the senior discount was able to diagnose the issue but the parts needed for the repair were not on hand. What do racers do? Adapt of course. HOSCAR went old school and crashed and burned just like the computer.

Heats were scored individually. If you came out you were out but your car remained where it lay presenting interesting consequences for the remaining drivers. If you were lapped you were out. The last driver in the slot or in the lead at the end of the three minute heat was awarded four points for the win. We basically had twenty-eight short races. Only two of the twenty-eight lasted three minutes. One was over in the first turn. The inside driver took two others out and our host had a win in less than one second. The good sport that he is, we restarted that one.

Wide-Skinny was up first. With no finish worse than second, Dave Failing was declared the winner with fourteen of a possible sixteen points. In second place was Rich Joslin followed closely by David Vickers in third.

TFX capped off the evening of racing. This one was also very close, so close in fact there was a tie for first place between George Vianco and David Vickers. The rules committee quickly decided that a first to five lap runoff would determine the victor. We didn't get to five. David slid out at the beginning of the long straight away on lap three and George had a win. Rich finished a couple of points back in third.

Like I said, old school.

The racing was not what we expected but it sure was a lot of fun. Thank you to hosts Tracy and Dave Failing for having us into their home to play with our cars.

Next week the group returns to Fantasy Raceways for IROC and SS E-Fray action.

HOSCAR

September 27, 2023

Fantasy Raceways was the scene for this weeks racing action. Nine drivers would be vying for podium positions in the IROC and SS E-Fray classes.

David Vickers provided AFX Mega G+ cars for the group to drive in the IROC race that was up first. There was a bit of uncertainty among a few as to how this race would go. HOSCAR, at this time, is more pancake motor centric so the faster, traction assisted Mega G+ platform is a change of pace for the group. The beginning of the race was a bit rocky due to some technical difficulties and a couple of restarts were required that resulted in some confusion early on in the race. Once the first group was off and running the adjustment to the cars did not take very long, and the carnage wasn't nearly as bad as some had expected. Drivers quickly adapted to the well prepped cars and the race was actually quite clean save for the occasional body flying off after a particularly hard wall shot. Dave Failing found his groove early and posted consistently good lap totals across the four lanes to claim the win by a comfortable four lap margin. Doing his best to recover from the rocky start, Steve Dickinson finished in second. Three laps back from Steve was Rich Joslin in third for the final podium spot. David Vickers and Bob Dickinson completed the top five.

Dave made it back to back wins on the evening with a strong performance in the SS E-Fray contest. Top end on the Fantasy layout is a big plus and Dave's corvette had it this week. Like Steve's car a couple of weeks ago, Dave's fast lap was considerably quicker than the rest of the group. That speed coupled with his driving skills landed Dave on top of the podium. Rich and Steve reversed their finishing positions from the IROC race with Rich in second and Steve in third this time. Once again, David and Bob round out the top five.

Ten racers showed up at Pattiland International Raceway to compete with their Wide-Skinny and TFX cars. PIR owner George Vianco had the track in fine shape for the festivities.

Wide-Skinny started us off. There was some very close racing going on in this one. Nineteen laps on the blue lane was just what Dave Failing needed to hold off Steve Dickinson for the win. George stumbled a bit on red but still managed to stay close to Steve, taking the final podium position in third place. David Vickers and newcomer Roger Townley completed the top five.

The TFX race was another battle of the titans. Dave and Steve posted consistent twenty-one lap heats staying close together throughout. Twenty-two laps on yellow was just enough for Dave to make it back-to-back wins on the night. George finished in third place again giving us a repeat podium. David was again in fourth, with Bob Dickinson rounding out the top five this time.

October 11, 2023

Ten racers traveled to Pattiland International Raceway on Wednesday making it back to back weeks with double digit attendance for the HOSCAR group. This week we were competing with IROC and SS E-Fray cars.

After a little time for practice the IROC race was ready for the green flag. George Vianco provided us with a nice set of cars for the race. Each car was noticeably a little different making for a unique driving experience from lane to lane. As with most IROC racing this one was close from top to bottom. Each place among the top nine finishers was separated by only one lap or less. There were three nineteen lap heats posted. Having two of those three put Dave Failing at the top of the group in first. Close behind in second place was Steve Dickinson followed by George in third. Completing the top five were Bob Dickinson and David Vickers.

The battle for first place was once again between Dave and Steve in the SS E-Fray class. This time it would be Steve at the top of the  podium on the strength of two twenty-four lap heats, the only twenty-fours of the race. Dave finished a couple of laps back in second with David Vickers taking the third position. Rich Joslin and George finished fourth and fifth.

Thank you to our hosts George and Patti. The track was in fine condition and it was a very enjoyable evening.

Stay tuned next week when HOSCAR visits Seabreeze Speedway for TFX and Nostalgia racing action.

September 18, 2023

HOSCAR had another good turnout this week at Dave Failing's Seabreeze Speedway as ten drivers showed up to race their Nostalgia and TFX cars. No computer crashes this time around. New hardware was in place and we were ready to commence with the fun.

The Nostalgia cars were called to the start/finish line first. Dave jumped out to the early lead with impressive runs of twenty-eight on blue and yellow. We all expected Dave to be fast but most of us also knew that David Vickers has the car to beat in this Class. When David finally got on the track our expectations were confirmed. With the best lap total of the group on red, and twenty-eights on the remaining lanes, David drove his hot rod to an impressive five lap victory. Dave held on to second place, finishing a lap or so ahead of third place finisher George Vianco.

The TFX Class capped off the evening of racing. In this one there would be no challenge to Dave. Three, thirty-one lap heats propelled Dave to a comfortable four lap victory over Bob Dickinson in second place. The duel for third was a great one with three drivers finishing on the same lap. When the sections were tallied it was Tony Gianforte on the podium in third followed by Rick Kibler and Rich Joslin.

Greenbrier Raceway Park was the venue for Wide-Skinny and Nostalgia racing this week. Ten HOSCAR members showed up for the event hosted by John Peckham.

The Nostalgia class was run first. Dave Failing jumped out to the early lead and was never really challenged as he cruised to a comfortable four lap victory. Bob Dickinson outpaced Rich Joslin in the blue lane by a lap to take second place. Completing the top five were George Vianco and Rick Kibler.

Wide-Skinny was next. Get the broom because Dave made it a clean sweep with his second win of the evening. This win was a little less comfortable for Dave though, as George and Rich managed to stay close to the leader. John Peckham and Bob finished fourth and fifth respectively.

The group was ready for some IROC and Wide-Skinny racing action on all six lanes of the fast Fantasy layout thanks to the strong turnout.

IROC would run first and Dave Failing provided us with a beautiful set of Ford Escorts for the event.

11-1 HOSCAR IROC cars.jpg

The Escorts were evenly matched and so drivable that everyone was having fun making laps and battling from top to bottom. At the finish it was Dave Failing in first by a comfortable two plus laps over David Vickers. George Vianco held off Bob Dickinson by just under one lap for third. Rich Joslin completed the top five. P7 through P10 all ended in a tie and the order was determined by track sections.

*Continued from previous post.*

Could the group keep the great racing going? The answer was yes, as the Wide-Skinny race was filled with good challenges and overtakes throughout. When the checkered flag dropped it was Dave, with his fifth straight win, atop the podium. George Vianco would claim the second spot by just two track sections over Rich Joslin in third. David Vickers and Roger Townley filled out the top five.

What's the number? Ten, yes the number is ten. Ten racers showed up at Dave Failing's Seabreeze Speedway for nostalgia and TFX racing on Wednesday evening.

Nostalgia cars were called to the starting line first. Would anyone be able to knock David Vickers from the top of the podium in this class? As the race progressed it was clear that Dave Failing was the only one with a chance to do so. The two went back and forth from heat to heat with David narrowly escaping with a track sections win to remain atop the Nostalgia class. The racing for third place was also very close with Bob Dickinson and Rich Joslin finishing on the same lap. By track sections, Bob would get the final podium spot. George Vianco completes the top five.

TFX was up next. Providing additional evidence to support the "blind squirrel" theory, Rich Joslin posted at least thirty laps in each heat for the win. The battle for the remaining podium positions was a great one. George, David and Dave, finishing in that order, were separated by just over one lap. In this one it was Tony Gianforte in fifth place.

John Peckham's Greenbrier Raceway Park was the venue for this weeks Nostalgia and Wide-Skinny racing action. Ten HOSCAR members showed up for the fun and competition.

We started with the Nostalgia class. David Vickers and his GT40 have dominated this class. Would the domination continue? On this night it was Dave Failing who had the best odds of shaking things up. It was a nice twist of fate that the two top dogs ended up racing side by side through the lane rotation. Early on the battle was a great one. As a marshal it was difficult not to get distracted and follow the action as Dave's Corvette and the GT40 quickly pushed each other to the front of the pack. By Dave's last heat he had established an almost three lap lead but he would be racing the final heat without the GT40 on the track to pace himself. Could he maintain his lead? It's Dave Failing we are talking about, of course he would. In fact he ran the best lap total of the race on Red and stretched his lead by another couple of sections just for kicks. It was a nice run at the top by David Vickers. I'm sure he will be looking forward to a rematch just as we will all be looking forward to watching it. Bob Dickinson finished third with John Peckham just lap sections behind in fourth place. Rich Joslin completed the top five.

Next up was Wide-Skinny. This one was a doozy. Four drivers topped the seventy lap mark and finished within three laps of each other. As the power died Rich needed his car to coast another fifteen inches but it was not to be as Dave took his second win of the evening by a mere two track sections. Making his first podium since returning to racing last season, was Ralph Thieleman just a couple of laps behind the leaders. In fourth and fifth were Bob and John.

November 22, 2023

The evening before turkey day the HOSCAR group was thankful to be racing! Fantasy Raceways was the scene for TFX and SS E-Fray action.

Eight TFX hotrods lined up for the first race of the night. This one was just close enough to keep things interesting. Finishing first and separating himself from the pack a bit was Dave Failing. Rich Joslin was a couple of laps off the pace in second. Bob Dickinson drove his Mustang to a third place finish. An impressive run by Tony Gianforte kept him less than a quarter of a lap ahead of George Vianco in the race for fourth and fifth.

SS E-Fray was up next and this one had a couple of real tight battles. The top of the order was a repeat of the first race, with Dave taking first by almost two laps over Rich. The race for the third and final podium spot was a good one between George Vianco and Bob Dickinson with Bob coming out on top by just track sections giving us a little podium deja-vu. The battle for fifth and sixth was even tighter with Tony edging out Warren Hurd by just two sections to round out the top five.

Thank you to Race Director Jeff Eve of Fantasy Raceways for another great night of HOSCAR racing.

Next week we go racing at Seabreeze Speedway. Stay tuned.

A winter chill was in the air, but the racing at Seabreeze Speedway was as hot as ever. Nine drivers were on hand to duke it out in the Wide-Skinny and IROC classes this week.

IROC raced first. Our host, Dave Failing had a nice set of cars for the group to test their skills with.

11-29 HOSCAR IROC cars.jpg

The racing in this one was very close. The top five finished less than two laps apart. Four of the five were separated by less than one lap, with P3-P5 determined by mere sections. When all the calculating was over, it was Rich Joslin in first place followed closely by Tony Gianforte in second. George Vianco tallied the most sections of the group finishing on the same lap to claim the final podium position. Bob Dickinson and Dave complete the top five.

Wide-Skinny was up next on the Speedway. Rich got off to a good start on red and white then held on to that advantage for his second win of the evening. In the duel for second Dave and George ended up tied, with Dave taking second place by only two track sections. The close racing didn't end there. Bob needed a good stint on white to stay in front of Roger Townley by less than one lap in the battle for fourth and fifth.

Thank you to our hosts, Dave and Tracy. It was a night filled with good racing, good fun and good music.

And now for something completely different....

Next week the group visits Greenbrier Raceway Park for some drag racing.

December 13th, 2023

With an unexpected change to the schedule six racers showed up at Dave Failing's Seabreeze Speedway for an evening of TFX and SS E-Fray action. The group was small in number, but didn't lack for enthusiasm and it showed in the racing.

The TFX class was first on the track and it was pretty intense right from the start. There were multiple, lengthy, side by side battles going on amongst different drivers throughout. At the finish it was our host atop the leader board followed closely by Rich Joslin. With another strong showing this week, it was Tony Gianforte in third place.

SS E-Fray capped off the racing. With a one lap edge in the gutter lanes it was Rich with the win, over Dave in second place. The final podium position was earned by Bob Dickinson in third.

Thank you to our hosts, Tracy and Dave for coming to the rescue of a handful of older gentlemen looking for a place to play with their cars.

Stay tuned to hear about next week's Nostalgia and SS E-Fray racing action at Pattiland International Raceway.

December 20, 2023

With visions of sugar plums podium finishes, dancing in their heads eight drivers showed up at George Vianco's, Pattiland International Raceway for some pre Christmas racing. As usual George had the raceway in tip top shape for the Nostalgia and SS E-Fray racing on the schedule this week.

After some practice and the usual pre race banter the group was ready to start the evening with the Nostalgia class. This was a great battle between George and Dave Failing. This one went back and forth from lane to lane. Who knows, if there was a fourth lane the race may have ended in a tie. Dave's edge on the gutter lanes was the difference as he took the win by just under a lap. The two leaders finished comfortably in front of Rich Joslin in the third podium position. The rest of the field was bunched up tightly with less than two laps separating Tony Gianforte, Bob Dickinson, Roger Townley and Warren Hurd, in that order.

Evidently Dave was just warming up in the first race. In SS E-Fray he gave the rest of us a solid thrashing, with his second win of the night by a resounding six laps. It was heat after heat of "here comes Dave, there goes Dave." The rest of the field had some great fun dueling for the final podium spots. George and Rich finished on the same lap with Rich squeaking by for second place 73.50 to 73.49. Bob was less than a half lap back in fourth place. There was another tie at fifth and sixth with Tony just edging out Warren by sections.

It was another fun evening of racing. Thank you to Patti and George for having the group in their home so close to Christmas.

The group takes a week off before returning to Greenbrier Raceway Park January 3rd.

'Tis the season for spreading, peace, joy, compassion and love wherever you go! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Nine racers showed up at Greenbrier Raceway Park, owned and operated by John Peckham. IROC and Nostalgia racing was on the schedule this week.

Nostalgia was first to hit the track. The previous Nostalgia race at Greenbrier was a doozy between David Vickers and Dave Failing. We were all looking forward to the rematch. A significant difference this time was that the two favorites would not be racing side by side meaning they would not be able to push each other along. While this made viewing the battle a little less exciting it did not detract from the final result. In the end it was Dave in first by less than a lap. Bob Dickinson took third place, six laps off the pace of the leaders. Rick Kibler and Rich Joslin complete the top five.

IROC was next up. On a cold Rochester evening in January what would we be racing? Snowmobiles, of course! The sleds were a hoot to navigate around the track. There was a lot of fun and laughter throughout this race. Dave made it a clean sweep with his second win of the evening. John, our host, finished in second with Bob making the podium once again, in third. Rich took fourth and Roger Townley finished in fifth.

Fantasy Raceways was the scene for this weeks HOSCAR racing. Seven drivers competed in the Nostalgia and TFX classes. With only seven members on hand we decided to run only the four middle lanes to allow for four marshals with Race Director Jeff Eve pitching in to help.

Nostalgia started us off and it was clear right away that Dave Failing and Roger Townley had the speed to runaway from the pack. They tied for fast lap with identical 11.564 burners, Dave's on white with Roger's on green. Their fastest laps were almost a half second quicker than anyone else. It was a good run on orange that helped Dave hold off Roger by less than a lap for the win. A couple of laps off of the pace was Rich Joslin in the third and final podium position. In a tight battle for fourth and fifth were George Vianco and Bob Dickinson, finishing in that order. Congratulations to Roger on his first HOSCAR podium finish!

TFX was called to the starting line next. This one would also be close with Dave in the center of things once again, this time with Rich. After the their first two heats the pair were deadlocked. Over the final two lanes Rich managed to gain a bit of separation with his fast lap of the night coming on orange in the final heat of the race, a 9.838, that helped seal the close win. Once again it was George and Bob in a tight race with George finishing in front by just a bit, taking third place.

Nine racers, hoping for podium finishes, showed up at Seabreeze Speedway to compete in IROC and Wide-Skinny action.

Wide-Skinny started off the festivities. Our host, Dave Failing had his Camaro cranking throughout this one. Winning three out of the four heats propelled him to a comfortable four lap margin of victory. Rich Joslin held off Roger Townley by a lap to take second place. George Vianco finished in fourth. Tony Gianforte rounds out the top five.

Dave brought out a nice looking set of Aurora based Mustangs for the group's IROC race. As with most IROC races this one was close. Dave and Rich finished on the same lap with Dave in front by nine track sections to make it back to back wins. Trailing them by less than a lap was Bob Dickinson in the third and final podium spot. George, Tony, and Roger finished P4 through P6, respectively, separated by less than two laps.

Thank you to our hosts, Tracy and Dave. As always, it was an enjoyable evening of racing.

Nine was the number of racers again, this week, at Greenbrier Raceway Park. John Peckham had the facility in great shape for the TFX and SS E-Fray races.

TFX was first on the track. There was some close racing in this one, except in the battle for first place. Dave Failing won or tied for first in every heat on his way to a comfortable four lap margin of victory. The race for second was a good one between Roger Townley and Rich Joslin. Both finished with seventy-nine laps with Rich just sections ahead of Roger for P2. There was also a tight grouping in the race for P4-P6. Bob Dickinson, Rick Kibler and George Vianco, finishing in that order, were separated by less than a lap and a half.

SS E-Fray cars were called to the start/finish line next. There was a close finish in this one for the podium positions. It was Dave, Bob and Rich all in the hunt for the win. Posting the best heat lap total of the night, in his final heat on yellow propelled Rich to the win by just one lap over Bob. Less than a lap back from Bob was Dave in third place. George and Tony Gianforte completed the top five in this one.

George Vianco had Pattiland International Raceway in fine shape as nine racers showed up to duke it out in the IROC and E-Fray classes.

IROC was first on the track. George provided the group with a great set of modified Willy's gassers for the race.

1-31 HOSCAR IROC cars.jpg

Each car behaved slightly different which is great for an IROC event. Dave Failing got off to a good start on red and kept it up throughout. He was the only driver with more than one heat of nineteen laps, hitting that mark on all three lanes. George posted nineteen on yellow, but it was not enough, as he finished a couple of laps off of the winning pace, in second. The battle for the final podium position was a good one. Tony Gianforte and Rich Joslin finished on the same lap with Tony in front by sections to take third place. Bob Dickinson was just a lap behind the duo, in Fifth.

The E-Fray class capped off the evening of racing. This one was a close race for the top three spots. George, Rich and Dave all had their cars humming along nicely with very few offs throughout the race. At the finish it was Dave with fifty-eight laps and twelve sections. Rich was inches behind with fifty-eight laps and 11 sections and George was less than two laps back of the leaders in third place. The race for P4 and P5 was also a good one. Warren Hurd had a great race, finishing less than a lap behind Bob.

February 7th, 2024

It was a light crowd in attendance for E-Fray and Nostalgia racing at Seabreeze Speedway. Could it be the unseasonably nice February weather? Whatever the reason those that made it had some fun.

Nostalgia was up first. This one had six of us wondering what, if anything, we could do to slow down Roger Townley's rocket of a car. He was lapping folks regularly on the way to his first HOSCAR win. It was an eight lap annihilation of the rest of the field that I'm sure Roger will remember for quite some time, while the rest of us will be trying to forget it as quickly as possible. George Vianco finished in second place with Dave Failing just a couple of laps back in third position.

E-Fray capped off the evening of racing. With no heat of less than thirty-four laps and strong runs on the gutter lanes, Rich Joslin took the win. Dave made it two podiums on the night with second place. Bob Dickinson grabbed third place, less than one lap behind Dave.

After a bit of discussion the group decided to take last Wednesday off since it was Valentines Day. Who knew H.O. racers were such romantics? Or is it just that we are old and wise?

Pattiland International Raceway was the site for Nostalgia and TFX action this week. George Vianco had the track in great shape for the nine members in attendance.

Nostalgia was at the starting line first. This one had some good, close racing from P1-P6 with little room for error if you wanted to hold your position. Dave Failing and George were at the top of the pack. With a two lap advantage on blue Dave took the win by less than a lap over our host. Tied at forty-nine laps it was Rich Joslin taking third place by just six track sections over Tony Gianforte. At P5-P6 we had another tie with seven sections separating Roger Townley, in fifth, and Bob Dickinson in sixth.

2-21 HOSCAR Nostalgia results.jpg

Use your imagination to picture the nostalgia podium cars inserted here. I remember lining them up after the race. However, I'm not sure why I got distracted and didn't take a picture. Must have been something important!

On to the TFX race where we had more tight finishes. In this one the close racing wasn't at the top. With no heat less than twenty laps, Dave's second win of the evening was by a comfortable three lap margin. The battle for the remaining podium positions was a doozy. Three drivers ended on lap fifty-nine with only ten track sections separating the three. With positions reversed, it was Tony in second place by a mere one section over Rich in third. Bob finished in fourth place just nine sections off of the podium.

Thank you to our hosts, Patti and George.

Please stay tuned for more racing action next week with IROC and Nostalgia on the schedule at Seabreeze Speedway.

Another race Wednesday in Rochester found the group at Dave Failing's Seabreeze Speedway. IROC and Nostalgia races were on the schedule.

The seven drivers in attendance at the start of the evening were treated to a new IROC set that Dave built on the TFX platform. The cars were tuned very well. So well, in fact, that they were turning lap times that not that long ago would have been competitive in E-Fray on the Seabreeze layout.

2-28 HOSCAR IROC cars.jpg

Bob Dickinson got a hot start in this one, turning the best number of the race on the red lane, thirty-one laps. That put him one lap up on the rest of the field on that lane and Bob did not let up from there. He matched the best lap totals on the remaining three lanes and parlayed that consistency into a nice three lap victory, his first of the season. George Vianco and Dave finished on the same lap. Having a slight advantage in sections, it would be George in second, leaving Dave in the third and final podium position.

Just prior to the start of the Nostalgia race David Vickers arrived to join the fun giving us eight racers for the final race of the evening. In this one it would be Dave with a comfortable three lap margin for the win. His impressive total of twenty-eight laps on white helped to separate him from the competition. The battle for P-2 and P-3 was a good one. David, George and Rich Joslin all finished on the same lap. When track sections were figured in, it was George in second again, followed by David in third place.

HOSCAR

March 6th, 2024

It was a light turnout at George Vianco's Pattiland International Raceway. Six drivers showed up to race their Nostalgia and Wide-Skinny cars. Maybe it was the recent nice weather. Who knows? Regardless, George had the raceway in tip top shape for those in attendance.

Nostalgia started us off. There was some very competitive racing in this one. Less than two laps separated the top five. Eighteen laps on Blue helped put George across the finish line in first place. Less than a lap behind, Warren Hurd and Rich Joslin ended on the same lap. With eighteen laps in his final heat Rich managed to squeeze past Warren for second place. Warren, in third place, was all smiles as he made his first appearance on the podium. P4 and P5 were also decided by track sections with Dave Failing finishing in front of Roger Townley.

Wide-Skinny would end the evening of racing. The racing in this one was also good, especially at the top of the pack. George and Dave were locked in a good battle for the win. There were two nineteen lap heat totals, the best of the night. Dave posted them both, and needed them both, to overcome George and take the win. A couple of laps back in third place was Roger Townley.
