Hi,

I would like to route a version of Riverside Raceway.  I was hoping someone might have a routing schematic (like they used to have in model car & track magazine) that they wouldn't mind sharing.

thank you in advance.

Are going to make elevation changes just like the real track? Turn 7 could be **very interesting**.

Hi Steve,

If you are unable to find the "blueprint" for the Riverside Raceway track you'd like to build, a member posted here on Slotblog, some of the Revell Raceway Commercial Tracks with the schematics, and perhaps might make you consider routing a different style of track.

The tracks listed here all look great to me!

Here is a Riverside Track layout - perhaps you might glean some insight on the footprint of the track:

Revell Raceways Grand Prix track removed the traversers at some point. It seems they created problems with deslotting. On the Grand Prix track (pictured) they replaced the traversers  at the start and end of the back straight with chicanes.

At the particular Revell raceway I attended, the Monaco track was one of the 2 most raced tracks at the facility. The Imperial or American Red was the other and following way behind was the Monarch or American Orange. Very rarely was the Regal/American Black, the Laguna Seca or the Grand Prix used for organized racing.

Speed & Sport also had a Riverside track and several big races were run on it in the late 60s, early 70s. I am sure there are pictures and race reports in some archive that could be found.

This the only picture that Im aware of if the Riverside track built in the 60s. Its the long course with a slightly exaggerated turn 9.
The chassis identified as the 2nd place car was probably the last inline I built before the anglwinder revolution.

Wouldn't be hard to develop one. But some basic info is needed first. What size footprint are you working with? Are you trying to copy the track in that magazine article exactly? How many lanes do you want? What lane spacing? Riverside was changed a few times over the years, so what version do you want? Here's a map you can scale to get some idea on where to start;

A good size for this track would be a footprint of 4 feet by 12 feet. Add your walk-around area to that.

These two links may help. In the second link, scroll down to images, click open all to see them then click on thr red and blue track images on Facebook. That leads to a bunch of track plan images of Riverside. Sorry I couldn’t find a more direct way to get there.

The other Riverside build that I remember is an 1/32 scale track featured in the now defunct e-magazine Model Car Racing edited by Robert Schleicter (sp?). It was a multi-issue feature that was extremely well done with scale plans that could easily be scaled up to 1/24. Maybe someone here or over on HRW has those files saved,

When he shut down we lost access to back issues on the web and I hadn’t saved anything on my hard drives. I was counting on the cloud to keep things for me.
Bob is quite well known in some circles and someone may know how to contact him directly.

Good luck with your project.

This track plan with 1:1 distances and elevations should help.
