Thanks guys :) .

Do you guys think the mirror on Morrissey's car is on top of the dashboard or the windscreen  ?

Rick,
It is a Russkit mirror as used on the Eagle and Porsche 906. It is mounted through a small hole drilled on top of the windshield, then a dab of contact cement locking it in place at the bottom.

That's what I thought too so I left it off. This car is a runner with an Electric Dreams repop body. I think I'd knock the mirror off the first time I run the car with my ham bone driving :laugh2: .

Rick, I don't think so. I have used mirrors mounted in such a way and never had an issue despite tough crashes. What I do is to remove the plastic mirror mount that IS fragile, drill a tiny hole in the bottom of the mirror, stick a piece of piano wire glued with cyanoacrylate stuff and use a dab of upholstery contact cement at the other end. That keeps it relatively flexible, and it can withstand serious crashes with no problem at all. :)

Goodness gracious (great balls of fire), that's a lovely car Rick! I bet it's a blast to drive as well...and you really did have to drive those things. Congrats on completing another super build!

Thanks John and thanks for the tip Philippe. Nice Lotus Barn, I like the orange and yellow fog. Jairus did a McLaren for me like that.

Dear Rick, I'm sure I missed this a long time ago - what kind of guides are those? Old stock (though the nylon looks new...) or repros? And those are exceptional dash gauges....

Hi Jon,

Yup, it's a "Russkit Small Slant Guide" from the 60's. The gauges are decals from Pattos Place. Bruce also has the number decals and meat balls (roundels).

.......A chassis question: Is the front body mount tube also the hinge tube for the drop arm?

Thanks!!

Hi Joe,

Sorry I missed your question before. Yes the front body mounting pin tube is the drop arm pivot tube as well. It's also thought that Mike's original car didn't have the two tubes I used to connecting the two body mount tubes together at the full width of the body.

Rick
