What I don't want to see is the motor shoved back to the rear axle and set hypoid. Don't forget we are running front and rear axle TUBES.

You got my vote on that.... :)

Axle tubes are sloppy, so gotta make them long as possible. Rear Axle tubes will wear out faster than bushings and produce more drag.

I'd be thinking of setting it up so that replacing rear axle tubes will not be complicated :)

FWIW, I'm pretty sure you'll have to the sleeve the BP bracket to accept the 5/32" tube needed for 1/8th".
Unless I'm mistaken, the hole is 3/16".

Is the BP bracket most everyone seems to be referring to really a WRP drag bracket? :scratch_one-s_head:

Mike and/or Other BP Locals,

Make sure Chris and Lenore are familiar with the specific motor bracket that will be allowed; so when we call from afar, we will be ordering the correct one. Also, what about wheels to hold 1/2" wide rear tires?! And the front wheels too!? Are those Russkit(?) lookalikes that ED makes suitable? I dunno; they use set screws; did y'all use set screw wheels back then? I may have to go with threaded axles and 5/40 nuts. This is like when I first began trying to come up with parts for my first D3 chassis.... had to learn what to get and where to get it for the first time.

Not to worry Tex, Chris knows exactly what it is.

I recommend you buy a couple to a few as the mounting holes are not in the same location from bracket to bracket, I think they missed QC. The holes vary about .010 (and some times more) from the quadrant of the hole to the bottom of the bracket. In other words, the hole will penetrate the bracket at .100 on one side and the other will be at .085 as an example.

Chris also offers them to fit bearings or reamed to allow for an axle tube and both are non-hypoid.

The Electric Dreams Russkit wheels (R721 front. R723 rear) are reproductions of what were used by quite a few racers in the Rod & Custom Series back in 1966.

Hold your horses boys. My idea is to run jail door chassis'. If you want to fit your car with period correct hardware, more power to ya. I'll be narrowing modern 1/8th" wheels and tires. Using a modern Parma guide in my brass rod drop arm. Pink gear, ugh! Basicly, I want to Replicate the past, not reproduce it. That would be too difficult and would take the fun out of it. I want everybody to have a go at it. Getting the cars to run well is enough of a challenge. My brother and I were shooting single shot rifles in target competion. You had to have a rifle designed before 1897. The rifle could be of modern manufacture if it conformed to the rule book. If everybody had to have an original rifle the sport wouldn't have grown like it did. This is the format I'll glean from. Don't worry about wearing these cars out. We, mostlikely, won't run them too often. I like the idea of having a separate day for this race so the old times can be the focus. There are several manufacturers making stuff that can be modified to look close to period. Turn your imaginations loose. :D We won't get it right the first time but, we'll be closer the second time around. Right now I'm trying to get one of those Team Russkit sport coats. Sano, a 1" black tie. Slick hair do. Hey, where's the Palmade and butch wax? :laugh2:

Maybe Cukras, Warmack and myself can find a pair of old black thick rimmed glasses to wear like in the old days. John could race with a cigarette (unlit of course) dangling out the corner of his mouth. To top it off, dark green T-Shirt, hair and especially those long side burns would mean "the Jet" is ready to beat everyone.
Anybody got a Cox controller?

Hi

is it OK if I just run a survivor? I kept that junk. I even have NOS motors, dubro brackets and so on. But my intent wasn't to build new, just run. I could build a new one. And the falcon with those 1500 gauss neos are much better choice. I STILL have the old motor bits.

Until recently electric dreams was selling a 70 era mabuchi can drive with a 30s wind in it.
