Ouch!

Mike, retire it, don't fix it.

Hang it on the wall as a reminder of a good frame that gave its all in battle.

I have a number of those hanging in my workshop!

Since Rob posted the photos of his race-damaged F1 chassis, I thought I would post these pics.

I think the main center section (nosepiece, motor bracket, steel rails, shaker weight) is OK, but I won't know for sure until I take it apart.

I just posted pics to mess with Howie :laugh2:

If that chassis were mine, I would take the mini torch to it and pull out the motor bracket, shaker, nose piece and just start over. I won't take too long to make the 6 rails. Just sand the solder off of the pieces and they'll be like new. That's basically what I did with the one Howie ding'd up.

Dennis,

I'm afraid I'm one of those people who are always repairing/reusing/repurposing everything. There's too much good stuff left to jusr "hang it up", it WAS a good car. The race I bent it in was also the first time I qualified for the A main. So I'm going to have to agree with Rob this time. Besides, I need a back-up F1 the way I seem to bend them.

I just hope I don't bend #2 before the R4!!!

I am not a doctor, but I played one as a child with the girl next door.

Mike, I was given some stainless piano wire. But I don't know if it would help any. :)

Bill:

The stainless rod is for tig welding. It's stiffer than the brass, but not as stiff as piano wire. I've used it before, but I'm not sure if I like it?
