At the speeds they were going in early 1966, what were lap times...an hour and a half??? :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

The speeds in 1966 though still made for competitive racing and thus good fun for basically all involved. If speeds are too fast, it's intimidating to potential newcomers and deters them from taking up the hobby. Truthfully even I find the <2 second lap times managed by wing cars these days to be intimidating.

:(

But when I see a race like this I want to visit the track and run some cars!

Any more candidates for the longest track? Perhaps just those still in operation today?

Of the ones mentioned in this thread, I doubt any of them is still in operation. I don't know the length offhand but a huge 1/32 scale track was built in Windsor, VT a couple years ago. I think it was built with a PVC roadbed, but not 100% sure. More info is posted on the Home Racing World bbs.
