This one I just finished for myself. "Bansai Racing" is an Outisight Chevron B16 for our Flexi GT Class. It's powered by Ah So Fast Motorsports. :D Hershman should love this one.

What's the IRRA? The "Independent Retro Racing Association"? :scratch_one-s_head:

Somebody asked me that the other night and I didn't know then either.

Nice paint, Joe! :D

Joe,

That car is absolutely beautiful. If I didn't trash my cars in two races, I would have you paint me one.
Really, really pretty. Whewwwwwwww!!!! Wish I could paint like that.

Curious! What are the little designs or the painted on graphics that appear on a lot of these bodies and what do you call them? It's the small design with just a couple of crossing lines and a few dots added here and there. It looks nice and I'm wondering who started this craze. They appear to be brushed on and I have never used an airbrush so I dont know if they could be done with one. I've copied the design and hand-painted them on a few of my bodies.

Those are starbursts... which are old-school sign painting decorations. I first remember seeing them used on slot car bodies painted by Dave Bloom. :)

I work on painting around three nights a week and a couple of hours on the weekend. Typically, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights belong to the wife.

Hi Noose!

Your painting is amazing.

How long have you been painting?

What kind of training do you have? Have you taken many classes/courses or are you self taught?

Your painting is amazing. Thank you!

How long have you been painting? Since around the age of 10 with an airbrush. Seriously got into it when I started painting slot car bodies in the 60s at around age 14.

What kind of training do you have? Have you taken many classes/courses or are you self taught? Pretty Much self taught through practice and reading for the airbrush techniques. The hand lettering is all practice and lotsa concentration.

OK folks. The body for what I consider to be the most beautiful slot car I have ever seen, touched, carried, etc. is done. Per the requirements given here is the "Starship" that is sitting on Rick Thigpen's beautiful piece of work. It's complete with the spolier and clear covering of the cockpit per Tony P.

Mr Noose,,You are an absoulute Inspiration

Is there any way you could come up with a how to on painting bodies?

Would be a great help to us 45 year old kids just getting back into the hobby.

I just attempted 2 paint jobs,,luckily one was a 2 tone easy job,,but my other came out TOTALLY wrong,,but I just went somewhere else with it and it came out fair

Tips like what Paint to thinner ratios and simular mix for acrylic would help lots

Thanks

I'll have to think about how to do it. I pretty much paint with all laquers on the lexan bodies. I'm doing some experimenting right now with something and if it works I'll let everyone know.

In the meantime, check out the Body Paint thread here in the "Paint Booth" forum and Jairus has some great how to's in there.
