It was a real "mind trip" painting them... wow... the memories!

They look great, just how I remember them... Those McLarens just really look good with that style paint job.

For kicks I decided to take my '78ish Tony P/Trinity Checkpoint-powered car (which still runs SUPER FAST) and put a body on it from the period of when I ran it. The closest one I could think of was the MAC Chevron GT since it is pretty slammed like what we ran then. No interior for it yet. Have to tell ya though, I don't miss making those wings. :laugh2:

So don't keep us in suspense... did it run faster with the wings? (duh! :P )

I'll know tomorrow when I try it again! Suspect it will as the original body I had on it was essentially the same.

I was asked in another forum to provide some details about this car sooo...

The body is fogged in black then painted with a metallic blue. The green is a light mist fog undercoated with white.

Now here is the underside. These were the days that Tony HAND-CUT the steel center sections (ouch!). It's a mild plumber with hinged batpans.

One of these days I'll tear it down and do the complete restoration. It runs so well though! The side dams (we didn't call them wings then) did work then so it will be fun to give it a go tomorrow on the King track we are running our race on.

Joe,

That should be super-easy to restore if you use a tumbler... :)

Brian, it is. They were used for a time to strip off AC ripple on some power pack tracks. :)

Hi Noose,

Really cool Tony P chassis. If you want to take it apart I'll be happy to give it the tumbler treatment and ZOOM it back to you :) .

Thanks, Rick.

Tried it yesterday on HVR King and it flies. Tony P drove it (probably gave him that inspiration that he took to go on and win the race later!).

The Music Police now have a Ferrari to chase those D3 "Cats" at BPR...

Posted Image

Of course, Mr. PdL, being the retro kinda guy he is, will probably use a Lola... or maybe a Ferrari, too

Posted Image

Posted Image

... and Gorski will be using this McLeagle at the next East Coast Can-Am. Note: John specifically asked me to do this one in the colors and scheme that was used for the body that ran in the Enduro Charity Event for Johnny Vucetic, Jr.
