Guys, in case you're not aware of it, Paul S. does not have a computer at home and he only "reads" Slotblog posts at work since he's not allowed to do personal communication (posting online) on the work computer. His boss is very strict on company computer usage.
That's the main reason he doesn't post on Slotblog, but he does read the posts.
I find it humorous at times how the banter on Slotblog can be get "serious" even though the discussion sometimes involves perception.
I believe the handout motor rule for the Can Am King races was recently "revised" (although the posted rules were not revised) awhile ago to allow everyone to use any handout motor from a previous King race. The "Big" races (i.e., Checkpoint, Western States) would still invoke the original handout motor rule to provide a more level playing field for those who travel a long distance and don't normally enter our monthly races.
I will talk with Paul (again) on this topic and get the rules revised to reflect the "revised" motor rule.
On another topic, Paul, Mike, PdL, myself and a few others have talked seriously about adding a new racing category for newbies and "challenged" (all thumbs) builders. This new racing class has not been finalized yet, but stay tuned. We all agree we need an introductory racing class to attract new blood. Even some of the oldtimers returning to racing are not builders, so we need to address this.
In addition, 1/32 racing seems to have some support and will be introduced at BP sometime this year.
A final note, keep your calendars open for next summer (probably June). We are planning a big race unlike any other we've had so far. This race will not be at BP, but a well known location which will draw some racers from far away. It will be big and it will be exciting to be a part of. It will be a celebration of our past and present. Almost every racer (past and present) has been a part at one time or another with this racing organization and it's time to reflect on the one common ground we all have in our slot racing history.
