François Lacarreau. Also found may be Francois Laccarrau on the internet.
F. LACARREAU on the slot car is a driver name decal from an Alpine A110 decal sheet. The Alpine was driven at Lemans in 1968.

Lacarreau was a very minor player in minor formulas in France in the late 1960s. He co-drove an Alpine A110 rally car at Le Mans and that car was a 24-hour moving chicane thankfully avoided by ALL the other cars there... it was so slow that they did not cover enough distance to be classified.
I was wondering why you put his name on the MATRA 630 V12 that nearly won the race, driven by Henri Pescarolo and Johnny Servoz-Gavin.

When I detail slot cars, any decal in my decal box is fair game to be used on a car. If there were de Lespinay name decals in the box, Philippe could be driving the model car.
I sometimes buy a decal sheet to do particular livery.
I used to use Letraset. I hate applying the individual letters, and the letter transfers are harder to come by in my area and the cost went up.
I did make computer generated decals for a while.
I also had my friend Ron make custom decals for me. Ron quit making decals when all of the ALPS printers died.
I remember when Eddie, the track owner, thought I made the stripe on the John Surtees helmet too high in the rear. So I lowered the stripe in the rear. When Rick posted this car, many said the stripe was too low on the helmet. We never responded to this. I did send Rick pictures of Surtees' helmets showing the rear portion of the helmet stripe in all three positions.
Everyone, have fun with the hobby.

Here is the Lola I raced with some MESAC folks on a Southern California club track that unfortunately no longer exists. I did pretty well with the car in the race. They ran with no tire glue rules, and my Soft Cox sponge tires worked perfectly. The track was one of the best I have ever run on. It had change of elevation and increasing and decreasing radius turns like a real road race track. There was even scenery with an operating pit lane.

Hi Rodney,
I'm always excited to see your "vintage slot cars" and how you restore them to their former glory!
Thanks for sharing Rodney!

Hi Rodney,
That Russkit Lola T70 definitely has "the look". It's one of my favorites.
Thanks for sharing your cars with us.

Looking through the Ben Jones Collection parts box, I found an International anglewinder frame. I restored the frame and built this car with it. The ad below is from a 1969 Auto World Catalog.
The chassis was cleaned up and the drop arm was moved back. An additional brace was added to the rear axle tube and motor bracket. Body mounts were also added.
The body is a Lancer Repco Brabham. A Russkit driver/interior is used. I built a motor using a Mura Mini-Brute A can, a late model A-can endbell, and an early Mura armature. The Dynamic guide and spur gear fit nicely. American Line rear tires provide grip.
I have not tested the car yet. It should be fun to drive.

Thanks Bill. Isaac, over the years, I have seen two types of the mini A-can motors. The ones with "rubber magnets" glued in are for 26D diameter armatures (armatures too long for 26D Mabuchi motors). The ones with non-glued in conventional magnets are for 16D armatures.

Rodney, thank you!
Not just for the motor info, but for posting that photo of the International chassis. I have a car with that odd anglewinder chassis, with the motor on top of the rails, and just couldn't for the life of me figure out where it came from. Will try to track it down now to make sure it's really the same. I think it has an Allard body...
Keep 'em coming!

Don,
this picture in "that book" Slot Car Dreams shows that very chassis (at right). But beware, the Competition Allard also has a "tube frame" so make sure that it is not a stock Competition chassis under that body!

Nope, no danger of that P. It's what I thought was a scratchbuilt car, but the frame still looked factory built... I would have recognized the Competition model quand même...

The Spyker C8 has a Plafit chassis with a coil spring front suspension . Even with the suspension, the car handles better with the front wheels set just a hair above the track surface. Weights were added by the previous owner.

Here is another GT2 car. The Champion Porsche GT2 ran in the GTS1 class in IMSA. One of my favorite Porsche race cars of all time.
I built this slot car many years ago. The Plafit chassis works great with this short wheel base car. Turn in and rotation are crisp. No tilting.
