The motor is very smooth and unusually quiet for going as fast as it does . But, it's light on brakes. Light enough to make pushing the car difficult. I bent the brush springs a touch to reduce their tension a little when I put the motor together. I was worried about the motor running too hot. Maybe that was a mistake.
So, I pulled the motor and replace the Camen Light brush springs with Camen Regular.
The chassis seemed to work just fine though...to be continued.

That's spectacular Noose, THANK YOU....and thank you to the Viceroy of Vacuum, John Dilworth.
I've never seen that body before. It's got a kicked up aero rear end in 1969. Hey Philippe, maybe that body should be in your book? Were the Brits doing the aero thing first?

Great thread, Rick! I love the personalty of the two railers with the Champion or Mura A cans. These old frames are deceptively easy to build and easy to tune. I'm hoping Rick Bennardo of RGeo can produced reproductions of the motor mounts, bat pans and 1 1/4" drop arms we used back in the day.

Reviving this older post, as I am making display labels for about 400 cars on display at the LASCM, with a picture of Rick's beautiful replica sitting today on the real slot car box used by Howie to psych out his opposition as the box can only contain a single car and a controller. The box was decorated by Frank O'Connor with a menacing cobra. I had to call Howie on this one as I did not remember which car it was, and he pointed me to this thread. Third place, Howie? OK, I have heard all the excuses.
