Yea, it's just normal K & S tubing. I have no idea if this is typical or not, but for slot car construction it's just fine? Besides I'm not sure if anyone makes Mill Spec tubing ?

I was talking about the side you modified, not the 3 "stock" sizes.

And I was only kidding, hence the smiley face.

"for slot car construction it's just fine"
Of course it is, Captain Acad, although you're the first guy to get carried away.

How are you shimming up the .055 wire that get's soldered on the pan
or are you going to just use a lot of solder?

I haven't figured that one out yet.

If I were to ever do one of these again, I would have Bill mill 3/32" grooves in the Agra's at the appropriate dept so that the tubing would sit flush. Most likely this will be the only one I ever build unless someone cuts all the pieces of tubing. What a pain.

That's a great idea. Maybe If I have a production piece done, I'll have that incorporated.
It would keep the squares nice and aligned.

Ray has some milled pans that Geary made, that facilitate the build.
I just looked at them for a second so I'm not sure how they work.

Just wondering how big of a project you were going to make out of it.

How are you shimming up the .055 wire that get's soldered on the pan
or are you going to just use a lot of solder?

I just decided to Brass Butcher it, and cut some .015 stips to use as a spacer. 15 year old Duffy would be proud of my old Eurosport pan and Dremel process.

One pan is on. These are probaby my last photos until the finished product. I'm sure everyone knows how to solder pin tubes and an axle in?

back 17.jpg

I decided to use .047" wire instead of the .055" that Swiss used on his build.

All finished

I need to see if I can get Manta Ray Price to put it in his tumbler for me?

Turned out a to be on the porky side of 64.5 grams.

Orginally I had thought about the pans being windowed with 3/16" all the way around, but decided on 3/16" on the pin tube sides and 3/8" on the Agra sides. My orginal plan and cutting the back of the Backagra out where the gear goes might have dropped 4-5 grams? I have no plans at this time to put it on a Swiss cheese diet to loose any more weight.

It will make a good flat track car. What's that flat thing you guys run on, that's always refered to as a "Knife fight in a phoe booth"

For now I want it back in one piece, maybe I'll see if Warmack wants to crash test it for me ?

You will placed on the thinning the heard list. :good:

The race on the flat track is called "Knife in a Phone Booth" is the Kinglemen. Sorry to say Warmack don't crash! :o Crashing that is my expertise. :laugh2:

The "Knife fight in a phone booth" is a tight lane spacing Kingleman,
not the flat track.
When Warmack tried it on that track, it launched in the bank.

I don't remember at all what mine weighed bare.

What will a complete car using a 64.5G frame weigh ?

Using JK plastic hub wheels, I usually figure about 50 grams worth of stuff. Should be aproximately 115 grams finished?

115G on my King isn't bad either,
especially for someone like you who races about 4 times a year.

Too many different interests, issues, wife and a 9 year old son with his stuff. I'm lucky I can get out the 4 times a year. Besides, I've been working on loosing 60 pounds by Jan 2012.

This past Saturday my Mother-in-Law returned from Memphis so we needed to go pick her up, take her shopping and drop her off at her condo. I also know the next 3 Saturday's after that I'm busy with the major one being Valentines weekend. Maybe in March?

At least you miss me

Still might thin the heard a little once I check the R4 schedule, my son's spring break schedule and estimate how much it will cost for me to participate. If the stars and moon are aligned I might have a "Help me pay for the R4 sale"

Rob,

Just choose wisely when yo thin the herd! Remember the chassis you sell to someone might just suit their style and it really hurts to be beaten by your own chassis.

BTW, anytime you want to join us for a race, we'd be more then happy to have you as our guest. There is a race in March, on the 26th where Pablo and myself will be in attendance. Come on down. Pablo will buy the steak and I'll take care of the adult beverages.

My first thought is why get rid of any of them, but I'm back up to 13 Can-Am chassis. How many does one need? Not every chassis I build is shown on Slotblog. When I do get rid of them my preference is sending them far enough away that I'll probably never see them again or if I do race against them it might be once a year at a big race.

Thanks for the invatation to come race. It's probably a 20 hour plus drive down to Flordia from my house. I'm not sure what air fare is currently at?

Rob,

One thing to think about . . . . if you look at a map, it's all downhill from where you live at! And the race is in Thomasville, Georgia or as the folks here call it, North Florida.

I think it would be a blast to have you, Pablo and a whole host of othere there having fun racign Formula 1, Can-Am and Flexi-GT!
