To say the least, it was quite a day!
Hell "almost" froze over due to a big surprise by a well-known blogger, many new chassis designs by various legends of the '60s, and a great day of very close racing.
Thanks to Jim and Debby Watterson for their support of D3 racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to our race directors: Keith Tanaka, Mill Conroy, Hector Gonzalez, and Paul Sterrett.
Here's the complete race/chassis photo report link:

Those "Usual Suspects" are something for sure and I blow Mill Conroy's chances because me losing it on the lead-on! Sorry, Mill, you should have been up there where the cream rises and it was all my fault.
Thanks once again, Keith, for your hard work. I always enjoy your reports... way Sano.

I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.

Nice display of real MASTER CHASSIS building & designs this is what Retro is about
not Factory Pan cars. Congrates to Bob Craney (The Stork) & Doug for his F1 win
with the Gorski rear that car won't die. Great Report Keith as always.

WOW! Great report Keith! Makes me want to be there even more. Worse, makes me wish I had never left. Can see now that I need to get busy chassis building new ideas. I plan to enter four races with you all in July and possibly get some local racers to come with. Until then, congratulations and know that we are jealous here in Utah.
Charlie, the old pros are at it again. Their creative skills are back and they truly enjoy racing again for fun (and of course to kick butt).
They definitely are preparing for the D3 Western States in July, so join in the fun.

A great day for the old West Coast Pros Legends Bryan Warmack,John Tore Anderson,John Cukras.
Nice display of real MASTER CHASSIS building & designs this is what Retro is about
not Factory Pan cars.
Maybe I am mistaken, but John C's car/chassis looks like the nose started out from a Slick 7 Can-Am kit. Is a Slick 7 Can-Am car a "factory pan car" in your opinion John?
John A's and Bryan's cars look to have come from a "prototype" chassis plate and has the "typical" Warmack brass nose look to them.
While they are unique.... they appear to have started out as some type of pan car

Ron, The chassis's do appear be from same plate.
However as I was there and saw the cars upclose, they had very inovative design elements.
Brian's tortion, Nesta's ahh ahh ahh very fast car and Tori's Bullit.
Not to forget Terri's unique design.
Tori did show me his chassis snd what a great build. Although the brass seems the same, what make the car differant is the wire.
Brian Great Bulid.
Tori, Take it to next level. Your chassis is out of here.
I am inspired to build.
See you guys at Western States.

What's great is that these icons are building again and in many cases are trying something new or slightly different from their past cars.
As many of us know, it's the tuning of these cars which can make the difference between an average car and a podium car. Of course, it doesn't hurt
to also be an expert driver as these 4 are
It's going to be interesting to see what all the racers build for the upcoming D3 Western States in July. We're indeed fortunate to have so many icons
and skilled builders here in SoCal.

in kits any kit looking parts were custom made by Bryan.
They don't even have the dimensions of the old Warmack stock kits.
Curkras's car is also custom cut look close. Nice work guys.
Bryan nice rail, Terry great art, Tore, & John nice homemade scratchbuilding building.

True, but also, none of the cars shown are any close to the original intent of "retro" racing, that was supposed to represent inline cars in the style of the 1965 through 1967 pro-racing machinery, so I request a name change for the classes from "retro" to "Flexi-Brass".
Yep it all started on this day............... http://www.tsrfcars....v3-05-20-06.htm

But then again.....the is always the Jail Door class for those who want to get as close to they can to the period "Korrect"

Some guys like to buy parts and assemble a chassis. Others like to build 100% scratchbuilt. Regardless, Retro is happening

Ron, however you define Rretro, which seems to be according to your own dictionary, the response has been awesome and little pockets of activity are happening all around.
Some guys like to buy parts and assemble a chassis. Others like to build 100% scratchbuilt. Regardless, Retro is happening
Mark... I didn't try and define "retro".... I have no problem with any of the cars pictured..... purchased parts or 100% scratchbuilt.
