Nice state you guys live in... Good old Prop 65...

While there are these annoying regulations, taxes, corruption and huge unemployment, the track is open and still have the best weather.

Humm. let's see. If we gather ALL the cans of PURE, maybe we can do it! :laugh2:

Oh, maybe carburetor clearner?:laugh2:

No offense Darrell, we're pulling ideas out of the air now.

I would say you are pulling out of something, but it's not air. :laugh2:

Mineral Spirits is what it is, Go ahead and clean a track with that and report back how much fun you had.

As also before mentioned Mike, there was some issue with the braid lifting when we used it. There are some unknowns as to why we don't use it. I posted this thread in hopes for alternatives to Naptha/ mineral spirits. A light spray glue is applied. I'm not around when that happens the following day after cleaning. Our thinners on the west coast are not oily and that's not an issue.

Mark, unless you are drenching the track in Naptha or Coleman fuel, the braid issue is not with the cleaning product but with poorly attached braid. Braid will typically let you know when it's time to rebraid....sounds like you guys are pretty close.

Naptha works great, Coleman does also but leaves a bit of slime behind, either way, open the doors, run a fan, do it quickly and there's really no issue.

Every time I had any braid problems after cleaning a track, it was because someone just soaked it too much. Every time.

Coleman Fuel of today is about the same as Napthat as it has chnaged over the last few years. It really isn't slimey like it used to be.

Check this out, they are very close now:

Interesting facts if I was a chemist, but I'm a paying customer and I like to have the track cleaned when I arrive! :laugh2:
Not a track owner only a customer, if I had a commercial track I would pay attention to this. ;)

I used Simple Green for several years to clean my tracks. It worked pretty good, even on heavy glue.

Before that, I used DaddyO's Track Cleaner. It had a very strong citrus smell, and made the raceway smell citrusy fresh! :laugh2: We couldn't get it for awhile, and as I recall, the new stuff didn't smell the same, or work as well. That's when we went to the Simple Green. The sassafras odor from the Simple Green is not as strong as the old Daddyo's cleaner, but still pleasant.

We're the regulars Nesta and so it falls upon us to do the cleaning. We don't have to pay for the supplies, only the elbow grease. Resporators are optional.

Citrus aroma would be nice. The only thing better would be Winter Green.

I usually clean my track with WD-40. It cuts the glue, does not lift the braid, and has (in my mind) a nice and non-toxic aroma. It is available by the gallon at a reasonable price. But you will need to apply spray glue when done.

WD-40? Interesting! I had the same concern that it does leave a film. Its not super flammable . Might be a little pricey for a commercial track. Worth a look into, thanks Bryan.
