Would you really want this "Worlds" whatever the term means, to be set on a King track rather than one that does not favor motors as much, but driving ability and chassis engineering, such as a flat road course?
Seems to me that a King is simply going to reward the guy with the faster motor, all other things being equal.

Hey who claims hand out motors are equal when racing on the King track at BRP?
If all other things are equal.... it will come down to who has the fastest motor even on a flat track
How many flat tracks did you race on back in the day?? King track racing is "retro"
The biggest retro races have been held on King tracks correct?

A flat track will give a huge advantage to local racers who have run many laps on it., unless it was a brand new layout design that nobody has seen or run on before. What are the odds of that happening?

I propose the make-up inlude a representative from the following groups:
Retro East
ORS
Penn-Ohio
A representative from an IRRA regional series with the best race attendance aside from the above three
D3
The above represent 2/3 of the active Retro racers in the US.
Also M.G. Brown, as he knows the ins and outs of the Chicago media...
We also need to keep in mind the mandates put forth by JP...

Above my turf football field is the spectator gallery, so we would have an overview already set.13 team rooms available, with locking doors for securing their equipment.Full service cafe and private parking for 400 cars."Sky boxes" above the field and viewing area for VIP activities.
Your place sounds like its perfect for the event!!

Of course I am refering to a king like Mike's or Sonny's which have to be driver rather then a punch bowl type king.
I have yet to see a "punch bowl" track for retro. The Gerding King at TR Motorplex is NOT punched while driving and the track still has to be driven with IRRA Can-Am cars. The Gerding King at TR's is similar to Roger's in Chicago and at Mimi's in D.C.
Can any of you run your car "full punch" at Mimi's track and if you can are you running 3.9's while never letting up on all 8 lanes?

You just had to blip the deadman, finger was punched and you blipped going under the bridge and again turning on the straight. It was all about horsepower. I hated it.

I believe that running a "worlds" on a King rather than on an MTT-style track favors too much a car with a faster motor. I believe that a flat track removes some of that advantage if anyone has that advantage.Hey who claims hand out motors are equal when racing on the King track at BRP?

No one, certainly not me, ever pretended that motors can be equal. What we in D3 have found however is that it appears that the motors we are using are more evenly matched than others on our own Gerding King that is a punch-bowl and where a slightly faster motor makes a huge difference.
King tracks are simply too easy to drive, meaning that the lesser drivers favor them for their racing. Of course the best always comes on top, regardless of the type of track, but I believe that it would be preferable to run such an event on a much more challenging track such as the one that is or was at Roger's raceway in Illinois.
However, this is one opinion, and at this time, it matters little.
As far as the "old-timer" race between the near-geriatric have-been, Bryan warmack and I share ownership of 8 cars built for the old-timer races in California, that would only need new motors and new tires to be ready to race.
Something to think about.

No, we go 3.6's.... kidding of course. Now that folks have figured out how to get a 3.9 lap out of a retro car at Mimi's most have found that you have to maximize your chute speed (harder tires) then drive the turns.
In a nutshell, if your car's a slug, it's a punchbowl, if you're fast, it's not as it is with many tracks.

Sure... so let's have the race on a harder track for most to tune and drive. That will make for a large race.King tracks are simply too easy to drive, meaning that the lesser drivers favor them for their racing.

Just like a Tootsie Pop... how many licks does it take to get to the center???... slot racing would have had a better chance to survive.

A "drivers" King track will get the most entries because everyone knows what to expect, but it may not "showcase" driving talent as much. But people will have a better time. The gap will be closer between the "Gods & Geeks™".
I'd go for the entries...
