The Plans
This is the base, it is modular construction, the holes in the side allow access to the fasteners securing each section.
Made mobile...

In the inimitable style of Pappy, the art of building framework has been elevated to a new level - that of furniture grade!
This entire project looks like Butch has taken a slot car track to the level that master craftsmen have done for many eons.
I do have a question though, if this is a 'coffee table' type of raceway, just how big is the couch?

Marty, the couches are small... but you should see the bar and stools...
You're right though, he has made the effort to think outside the box. Butch could never be content with "cookie cutter" style track construction...

It is a real shame Butch no longer frequents this Blog, Rick... he could provide for more details and information than I can.
I will pass on your comments though.

What a great-looking track!

MAGNIFICENT WORKMANSHIP!!! You are truly a Master Craftsman. That track is better made than most of the furniture in my house!!! Heck, ALL the furniture in my house!!! Just a fantastic piece of work!!!

Is this that guy you were all talking about in free blog - WOW - what part of the country does he live in - do you think he would build me a track?

No he's not John... he doesn't frequent Slotblog at all. I could give you a link to the slot car chat site he does frequent and where the entire article is posted, but that may be against the rules in here...

Furniture really describes it well.
Pappy should be proud.
I love the pedestal look of it.
It reminds me of a bit smaller track that I ran on in the VW display at the Chicago Auto Show, about 15-18 (?) years ago.
It looked more like a sculpture than a slot track.
