Thank you Philippe for info, my plans were to clean and replace the resistor, but it seems a new yellow resistor is not available at this time.

I have delicately cleaned and shall put it back together and ad it to my controller collection.

I do not have a way to measure the ohm. Can you take a guess from the pic as to what ohm it might be?

I'd guess 3 ohms, not less than 1.5.

I came across this wet wound(?) 2 ohm.

I can't get in there with calipers, to measure the thickness of the band, but they are approx. .032" wide.

Slotbaker racing in Australia in the early 70,s the controller of choice was the old MRC controller, When the motors started to get hotter they used to suffer with the bronze bushes melting the plasic that held them in position. then towards the mid 70,s we found that the Ruskit type controller was an easier controller to use because you had more control with your finger rather than pushing with your thumb. I remember when we use heater wire as the resistor people started complaining when they were acidently burnt.

LidsayB, are you referring to nicrome wire? I've also read (somewhere) about people using furnace cement to form or, was it insulate the resistor body. Anyone remember witch is it?
