"Team Trinity" offers a number of colors of tire traction formulas, designed for RC Car foam tires.  For our slot car application, is there a preferred color?  Trinity offers purple, white, red, "sticky fingers" etc.

I have been using a CVS pharmacy 50 spf suntan lotion and it's been working pretty well all by itself.  But, I can always learn something new!!!

Trinity Yellow Dot was my favorite if I needed to soften up a tire. Unfortunately they took it off the market a few months back.

That's not the kind of treatment I'm referring to.

Tire treatment IMO needs to permanently alter the rubber. Lotions are an additive that can easily be removed, furthermore they alter the tracks surface which opens another can of worms.

Using lotion does not alter the tracks surface at all!  We've been using it for years with no affect on the track - but good for cleaning and softening the tires! Good you've found some things that work for you.

Some may alter the track surface.

It depends on the paint used to coat the surface.

Got a little thread drift here, but that's another subject.

Bottom line: Tire treatments applied to tires at the track will never duplicate the effects of tire treatments conducted prior to mounting. It's the deep/dark secrets that some are trying to re-discover.

Hey Tim, you race at BPR far more than I do. I know in the past BPR has had issues with the track after a long day of racing. You think the lotion may be a culprit? I know the lotion works well out west. I have not seen it used much anywhere else.

Lotion... I'm loving it.
Test, test, test, and go test some more.

In Houston we use Nivea hand lotion to soften the  tires. It does not affect the Hillclimb at all.

Well Bronco Barney started it---and he called it "Love lotion"!!     We've been using it for years--and it leaves NOTHING on the tires when you use it. We rub the tires down with a rag to clean it off before going to the track.  You can check that with a cotton ball or your finger---but it it cleans and slightly softens the tire rubber--that's all. Leave's nothing behind.  We also use it at our home tracks where we have NO glue--and it's compatible with the rubber 1/32 tires as well--so no--it's NOT affecting the track other than helping lay down a rubber layer and cleaning it.  If you're having other results it must be because you're not cleaning it off before going to the track!

I like Mill Conroy's Blue Magic and also use Chuck Vaughn's (VTeck) lotion with good results Work it into the tire, wipe it off and they leave no residue on the track.

I love that suntan lotion is still a preferred tire traction additive. Back in the '60's Coppertone was the hot

commodity. We then went to Castrol shock absorber fluid. The owners of the painted tracks outlawed the

shock fluid in short order. It caused the paint to bubble.
