It's not so much a hobby as it is a curiosity: Wardriving.

I hear marking the hot spot with chalk is the "thing to do".

Since I'm not serious about it... I guess. The network program I use can be linked to a GPS device to map the various networks picked up. I don't have a GPS to connect to the laptop... Oh, and that same same program can output the data so you can load it into a database system and do all sorts of fun and games...

I was loaned a 2GHZ dish and a 2GHZ 1 watt amp and I could pick up and log-on to open hotspots five to seven miles away! That was a few years ago and after a few days took down the rig. Uhmmmm... being nuked with microwaves was something I didn't need to keep doing.

I buy old Novas with four speeds. I look for cars with good bones but needing TLC. I get everything working as it should, even the light in the glove compartment :D

When I get them running perfect I beat the S#@T out of them and then sell them. The trick is not to go too far with time or money invested. Kind of like giant slot cars. As always, the hunt for a project is part of the fun.

Tim,

Coming from such an accomplished collector as yourself I will take that as a big compliment. That car looked like a real turd when I found it. It was laying forlorn on the side of the house here in the Bronx, NY. Quite a special area. :D

The car was sold thru eBay to a guy named Mafia who owns a sewage and carting business in NJ. Good thing he loved the car, don't want to end up next to Jimmy Hoffa somewhere. :laugh2:

Clay target shotgun sports. I love to shoot at clay targets and watch them explode and turn into a cloude of orange dust. There a few things that are more satisfying but that is close to the top of my list.
In the pic the top gun is a Browning under single for trap, next is a Classics Double 101 for double trap, next is a SKB 785 for sporting clays, and the bottom is a SKB 785 for skeet. All are 12 gauge.

Lots of cool hobbies here.

When I'm not scheming ways to go to a local raceway, or putting cars back together from the last time I was at the local raceway, I do the following:

I play guitar, sing and write the songs for this band The Anderson Council New record out soon. Yes, I still refer to them as records...

I play guitar and sing for this band Hey Bulldog - All Beatles, all the time.

I hang out with my kids(2 and 5) and my wife. We do fun stuff. My kids just painted one of my guitars. It looks like Jackson Pollock's work.

I cook a lot. Daily, in fact. 20 years as a vegetarian has taught me a lot, especially how to make tofu actually taste like something... :)

Oh and I enjoy visiting a good purveyor of beer now and again. I second Cheater's assessment of the Brick Store in Decatur, GA. Great place.

Plays guitar.
Plays with slot cars.
Cooks food.
Hangs out with family.

Sleeps occasionally.

Since this is my thread, I was going to comment on a bunch of stuff but now my thoughts are kind of stale. I will say, however, that Mark's Suzuki GS 1000 is such a beautiful bike. That was really my era of bikes - just before the monoshocks.

Like I said in my first post, I got the idea for this thread from my model train forum. And one other hobby that was really popular over there was military modeling. I don't think I've seen that mentioned over here yet.

Drinking beer is a favorite hobby of mine. Lol. Chasing women might be a hobby or could be a habbit. Ha-Ha. I love it though.

Writing, reading, soccer, football, video games, hiking, watching horror movies, yoga, running, belly dance... I'm sure there's more. A different hobby for every day and then some! Seems writing, reading, soccer, football, and slot car racing have won out for the most part though :P Especially slot car racing...

Belly Dancing ? That would be very good for your slot racing career.

Now ... Can you Belly Dance while standing at the drivers panel ?.... drivers can be distracted you know.

It's not cheat-in ... they just wall themselves and you can drive right by as they yell 'Track' and then go to the pits all bent up.

:D
