I would suggest we do tech for the GT classes at the same time.

We may still do them separately due to some people's work schedules.

The regulation of "RetroPro" is same as that of SCRRA?

Haruki raises a good question regarding RetroPro. I would hope under whatever rules we run, that the X12 arms will be allowed. Last I spoke to Jay and Mike they said they were.

Jay will most likely post something real soon so everyone can prepare accordingly.

We at working on an IRRA™ rule set. Nothing final yet but at this time it appears X12 OK, as well as .015" front, .050" rear, and .790" rears.

Stay tuned.

It appears the initial rear clearance will be .040" thus making the rules in line with SCRRA.

Stay tuned for further info.

RP-1a. Drive type: open to the imagination.
RP-1b. Hinged movements in any direction are allowed.
RP-1c. A single straight, one-piece front axle of a minimum 1/16" diameter is required, carrying both front wheels. NO hinged front wheel movements are allowed (i.e. no "L" arms). Front wheels may rotate independently.

Mike, Jay, John,

There are a couple of clarifications I/W on the SCRRA RP rules that actually will make them a bit more liberal in one area as compared to the current wording. Plus a restriction in one area that is really a wide open chasm of a loop hole. Bryan W. has been working on them and they will be ready soon.

So basically anything that was legal at the CPC and Zimmerman Speed Festival will be legal. They were run under the D3 rules then in effect.

See y'all in the fall.

Mike, Jay and Fall Brawl Retro Pro racers,
Seattle racer, Tom Hansen, who will be attending the Fall Brawl called me yesterday and said Speedzone will be using the newly written SCRRA rules for the RP race in November and we discussed several concerns of his about the rules. A recent change to the SCRRA rules which includes RP also and will be officially added in September is regarding chassis construction and the materials allowed. Beginning next month the maximum allowable piano wire rod that can be used will be 1/8" (.125). The SCRRA and D3 before them have never limited main rail cutting or grinding to make rectangular spring steel flat pieces but this just puts a reasonable limit on the size of the piano wire that can be used to make flat rails.

Another issue we discussed was the SCRRA rule concerning body cutting and trim lines. The rule, "Bodies must be mounted following their marked trim lines" was primarily written to control excessive trimming of the FRONT for lowering purposes. (see pic) As Tom pointed out to me, most of the RP bodies don't even have any SIDE trim lines.

DSC05090.JPG

After a few races some bodies seem to just naturally droop and a little trimming is necessary to keep from dragging. This would still be a legal body and our body enforcement rules are fairly liberal. I suggest Jay or Mike or anyone in charge just use the SCRRA rules as a basic guideline and decide how strict you want to be at the tech table. Have Fun and I hear some racers from BPR may make the trip!! :)

John,
Unfortunately any faces from BPR this year probably won't include mine!! :laugh2: I hope to make it sometime. The RetroPro cars are great. They even work well on our little 90 foot Kingleman out here and it's kind of like a wingcar race............just brutal nonstop action and speed!!

John,
Ask Jay as he was the Retro Pro winner at the Checkpoint Cup!! :laugh2: Everyone seems to be geared around 5:1 at BP. 8:40, 8:39, 8:38...
We are also considering a maximum rear body height...........something probably a little more than 1 5/8". I will let you know in a couple days as we are amending a few rules as of September 2012. ALSO.....spoilers are NOT allowed in Retro Pro.
