I made up some "fancy lad" wheel inserts out of Russkit Iso Grifo jobs drilled and tapped 2-56. Cox knockoffs are screwed on with set screws. Here are the fronts.....
.....and the rears:
Here's a look at a "knockoff-less" version of the wheel:

You probably know this but these little cans thrive on light weight. Too much weight and they'll pull it OK but get hot real fast because there isn't much metal to heat sink into.

I'm going to leave the can polished bare metal like the chassis. My preference would be to have used a "chrome can" Cox for the project but I couldn't find the one I knew I had.....until yesterday

Maybe it's the Lotus 30 I showed in this thread:
Bruce McLaren's Cooper-Olds
That 26D arm I used in the Pittman 706 setup was kind of "crazy fast". The car was jumping and twitching down the straight on Eddie's King like it was going to take off . I put the car back in the slot box and there it has sat
So many slot cars to build and so little time..........

Thank you Bob and Pete. I've tested it on my track and it's a good handling little car. I hope to get my behind in gear and finish it up.

Have you modified any motors like this one lately Rick? The article and your build certainly give a lot of ideas on how to keep a tin can going! Or seriously hop em up
Love the way the car looks

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the offer of help with the Porsche body. I've got one I can use but I still need to finish the "Can With Nine Lives" car. I seem to always get to the point of painting and move on to a new project..........

Only just found this..............Its right up my street.
Thanks John. Now if I would just finish it.
Here's another 60's GP car I did finish and a link to the build:
Aristo-Craft power
I made some boo-boos and would for sure do some things differently next time but I enjoyed this project. It was fun to build and it's a fun car to drive.
Thanks, Jairus, for the inspiration to build it that came from your BRM project and thanks to everyone who shared this project with me . Three more pictures and it's off to the next project...
Onward...

After a 9 year hiatus, the little Ferrari is in paint:
Along with the Lancer body we also have a Lancer driver, an Eldon driver's head with a old style helmet similar to Surtees wore in '63, Russkit mirrors, a piano wire roll bar and some brass screen for the intakes.

I don't see any "shakey hands" sign on this car.. Thanks for showing the original chassis & motor builds. I had not remembered seeing them back in 2012.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

After a 10 year hiatus, I'm glad I finished this car. The body is, in my experience, pretty rare and makes for a cool 1.5L Formula 1 car:
