I ran ss wonder and didn't want to go any softer on the tires. I'm going to
re configure the pans and move the bite bar and see how that works
Cry like a baby, drive like a girl, walk like a man.
Give me enough rope and I'll build a fast car... or hang myself?

Well if you check James Grimstead's times in his race--he was running a JIm Lange built clone of PDL'S chassis---he was consistently in the 3.3's during the race!!! The car was BALLISTIC--he had some issues!
Although James had gear problems this car was bullet! He was second fastest during the race to Jonathon check out the differance in quick lap time ...James had a 3.398554 to Jonathon's 3.398051. A big thank you to PDL for giving me the inspiration to build my version of a "Killer Retro Pro". I encourage others to do the same.

I wonder of when we are going to see the first retro chassis made of 16 rails of 0.016" wire on each side...

and more.............
The Can-Am chassis built by Tom Hansen seems to have a Chicagalond steel guide-tongue, which D3 banned to use.
Does SCRRA approve the use of a large steel guide-tongue as IRRA does with a dimensional limitation?

I already have a running 38 rail car 18 rails of .025 on each side and a center tuning fork made of 2 rails of .039. and a 20 rail f-1 both are very fast.

The following is what IRRA says:3f. Pieces of steel used for guide tongues arelimited to a maximum 1” (25.4mm) total widthand 1.50” (38.1mm) total length. Steel tonguescut from the flexi and wing car chassis are notconsidered "commercial guide tongues" and areno longer allowed. All legal steel tongues mustbe purpose built as steel tongues and meet allIRRATM measurement specifications. Thanks in advance,Haruki
Haruki,
The SCRRA allows the exact same Chicagoland pieces and has the same dimensions on the rules as the IRRA.
Sorry you couldn't make it last weekend and hope you are feeling better!!
The KamoSpeed cars did great at the Parma Checkpoint. I was TQ with a Kamo copy and Bob Crane was just .001 second back with your personal car. Duran won with a Kamo original and Mill Conroy was 2nd with a Kamo copy. Hope you can make it to the Summer Western Classic in July. The Pete Zimmerman "Festival of Speed" will be the weekend of April 20, 21 if you want to come sooner!!!

Bryan, once again , brilliant race report and pictures....
To Buena Park and Greg Carter, I apologize, as you all have everything well in hand, and again, we appreciate Greg's switching back to the original timing system so that the Retro Pro race Friday night could run without a hitch.
Thanks to Nesta, who took countless photographs as well to report on the racing.....
Hope that everyone turns out next Saturday for the next scheduled Retro Race on the Buena Park King Track !

Bryan,
Thanks a lot for the clarification of the guide tongue rules.
Mike Swiss will be happy to hear this.
Thanks for your great compliments to Kamo.
He will be very happy, because you are one of the great chassis builders that Kamo respects a lot.
I hope I will be able to race at the Zimmerman Festival of Speed.
Keep racing,
Haruki

Great report and great pictures. But the way the chassis are evolving, why not just race laser or EDM cut wing car chassis with Pro Slot Euro / JK Hawk / Falcon motors in Retro Pro?
Kind regards,
Russell

Russell,
Like all Retro classes, Retro Pro is first and foremost a builders' class. Using laser or EDM parts is prohibited in the rules.
Secondly, I doubt that the bodies we use could generate the downforce needed for a wing car frame to work.

OK............after all the car pics we finally get to some action!! Can Am Qualifying, 65 cars. The last racer Chris Green didn't get a qualifying time and wasn't listed and started in the I Main.
As usual very close qualifying with Bryan Warmack JUST edging out Bob Crane and Mike Isles.
Bryan was running a Warmack/ KamoSpeed copy and Bob Crane was running Haruki Kans personal KamoSpeed car while Mike Isles had a Greg Van Peenen chassis. No real surprises here but a lot of great racers had their work cut out for them to get to the A Main!!

Hi Dennis,
ret·ro:
adjective, Informal.
1. retroactive: retro pay.
2. of or designating the style of an earlier time: retro clothes.
The point that I'm trying to make is that the chassis can hardly be described as being 'retro' in design (i.e.in the style of an earlier time), particularly those used in Retro Pro.
Kind regards,
Russell
