I think the black plastic nut is unique to Atlas.

 

It's listed as Tradeship ... are those listed intended for the MK-70 or 77 ? 

 

The part I'm confused about is ... are you saying the brushes that in the kit don't fit the hood/nut bores they come with and the whole kit does not fit you Atlas motor?

 

Dokk, must be the ebay skim also the shipping price is too high to start with for US shipping.

I'm confused too. The springs are the same width as the brass screws that came inside the small plastic envelope with the (equally large) brushes.

What is TM-70 and TM-77?

These are stock numbers for Tradeship motors (Tradeship was an importer and a distributor and not the actual manufacturer) that have nothing to do with Atlas/Marusan motors.
So effectively, while many of these motors from Japan (KTM, Tradeship, Mabuchi, Kemtron, Marusan...) have SIMILAR parts, they are not the same and may not fit your needs.

Steve, yes, but Don spoke in general terms. Same basic design, but different animals. As an example, the Igarashi motors, such as the Strombecker TC32 and TC24, also have round brushes and coil springs retained by a screw, but none of the parts are compatible with other Japanese motors, either padlock type or "open-frame' such as the Marusan/Atlas motors.
So if you purchased this brush kit advertised as suitable for a Tradeship motor, there is little chance that the brush spring will fit.
You need a specific kit for your specific motor, and the various Marusan/Atlas motors also have different configurations... it is not going to be too easy to find a brush and spring kit effectively 50 years after the Marusan company went bankrupt and nearly took the Atlas company with it.

Dredging up this old thread with a question. Is anyone repopping the BRM windshield or the wheel inserts ? That's all I need to complete mine.

Just to add. I have one wheel insert if any of y'all want to use it to repop them in resin or 3D printing.
