Thanks Jairus. Paul, I don't know about serious, but note wheel inserts are absent, and a very small solder joint on the port, forward, bottom of the motor can. I may be a little paranoid about main rail flex on F1 cars from the bracket to the front of the motor after my Peachtree City experience last month. The beauty contest is over, it's track time now Will be testing both my cars 7 June, but I already know my Chappy is perfect. It's a small, narrow body - no way it could beat a full size car, but it does handle sweet and zips down the straights well with the Azary motor. A fun car to drive. Hope the new improved M2B is the same.
Sorry for dark pics, still trying to learn this new camera, need more light.

Did you notice your name was upside down & backwards in post #274? You really do need a light box, don't you.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

Rick T. has some info on here someplace about the light box he made & uses. Maybe he'll chime in.

I already have a light box, Bill, but still don't have a big and powerful enough light for it
Track test #2 results today:
-Motor with the Okeefe arm is still too powerful for this car but I love it so much, it stays.
-The new rod chassis handles MUCH BETTER than the tubing chassis and is much stronger.
-Still has some tuning issues to be worked on; she is hops a little in the straights and needs more weight.
-The car passed all crash tests (wallshots and straightaway launches into the bank wall) with flying colors !! Nothing bent; no broken chassis joints or body parts. I'm glad I made the center of the drop arm piano wire instead of brass rod Noose driver still looks good as new. Bryan Warmack mirrors are still in perfect shape.
I think the lack of rear axle bushings, with just tubing over the axle, is inherently sloppy and causes the hopping. So I'm going to fix that one way or the other. If my memory serves me correctly, the guys who race Jail Door retro cars had the same problem with "tubing only" rear axle carriers, and Dennis Samson came up with a simple solution of dimpling, or crimping, the tubes slightly to eliminate this problem. I also think she needs more weight overall, and slightly more bias towards the front. I'll fix these problems before her third and final track test 5 July. One way or the other, she is going to Oregon along with my Chappy car shortly thereafter, ready or not. I know exactly what I need to do (I think)

IIRC, the west coast rear axle tubing dimpling was done by carefully running a tube cutter, such as the K&S or the old International, around the tube then reaming the insides to 1/8".

Track test #3 was today; last chance to make it right. Orange tires cleaned and re-installed. "Screw-on braid" type flag discarded in favor of a Gold Cup sleeved with thin wall tube.
Results: No more straightaway hop. What a relief ! Now she is driveable, scoots down the straights, and powers through the curves with good intentions. Ready to go to California.
