Why?
Because it looks like a baloon animal. Or possibly an inflated rubber glove? In my opinion, of course.

To the me anything that can generate the speed and grip of an F-1 car is beautiful. The older good looking cars can't hold a candle the these current ugly F-1 cars. The stealth fighter was very ugly but it got the job done didn't it.
Opinions are like butt holes everyone has one and most of them stink. For every so called fact or expert one side can come up with the other side can do the same. Experts will say whatever they are getting paid to say.
Top Fuel cars are ugly but I love the 8,000 HP.
That's the way it is February, 22, 2014 in my world.

I suspect there are a lot of "youngsters" out there that think the new F1 cars are waay cool and things of beauty. Geezers lament the loss of those cars that stoked our imagination when we young. Today's "youngsters" will probably remember today's monstrosities with the same fondness.
PdL - Bernie in a German jail and Ross Brawn at the helm of the FIA sounds damn good to me! Bernie is just a piece of crap. Ruined F1. OK, I have to bite my tongue now...

Let's see.... Phil Hill at $200 a week in 1960 and Schuie at 85 million annual. Yup... ruined F1 for him.

The Canadian GP has been on a very fragile financial scale despite that tickets are very expensive and full crowd. Does that tell you something is not right here?
Somewhat related, no more MotoGP at Laguna Seca (I did not know this until today):
In a telephone interview, racetrack CEO Gill Campbell said that the MotoGP event had not been profitable for four years and the track owes Dorna $2.5 million. Hosting a race next year would have cost an additional $800,000, Campbell said, and Laguna Seca simply couldn’t handle the financial stress. The race is estimated to bring in $100 million to the local economy.
I guess another independent track got tired of getting butt-raped by the series owner. Amazing that an event that brings in $100 million to the local economy still has trouble being profitable, but there it is.
I've attended about, oh I don't know, say a million motorcycle races at Laguna. I remember when it was the Superbikes on Saturday, 250's on Sunday morning and the 500's (not MotoGP) in the afternoon.
