I started out in this hobby about nine years ago, purchasing a Group 20 car. I'm not sure of the name of the track but the car was stupid quick. One day I went a little too fast and the car flew off the track and splat; no saving that. It was basically the end of the hobby.
Well, I bought another car; this one not sure what it is.
I'm just getting back into the hobby and was wondering if you can tell me what it is. I think it a Group 12. I was looking not to upgrade this car but to buy a new car but I don't know what to look for. I was looking at a lot of cars on eBay but don't know if the JK custom with Hawk 7 is faster.
Hello Anthony, (or is it Ant-Knee?)
Welcome to Slotblog and back the fun of slots. too.
Hang in with us and try not to get discouraged if the experienced guys put your stuff down. We all want you to run good and have fun.
I like the paint on the body and have a new one just like it. I don't know who the painter was as it is not signed only dated 2002. A true pro painter.
That is wing car Nirvana. If he wants to race he will have to stay away from eBay...
W.J.,
Is Nirvana the name of the chassis, body, RTR?
Is it tagged?
Ditto... it should have a little white 'Group' ID tag between one of the poles epoxied to the windings.
If not look closely for any engraving on the metallic part of the motor poles. If none of the above it could be an 'outlaw 16' arm in there.
It may have taken a 'wall shot' as the magnets do not appear to be 'centered' in relation the armature.
In my opinion, the body needs to some work, like getting the diaplane back about 1/2-3/4 inches to the rear. Everything else looks like it would be a good car to play around with. Motor might be suspect, but for playing it would be fine.
It does look to be mount too far forward but it does have a 'heavy' motor in it.
It certainly is an eBay special. The motor looks old and in need of a refresh/blueprint. Looks like the arm has/is rubbing the magnets. Wonder how flat the chassis is? The body looks like a Peugeot which is way too much downforce depending on the track. Lastly, the chassis needs to be moved forward closer to the nose about .5"-.75".
Hope you didn't pay too much...
What's too much? Fun can be priceless.
It looks like a Boxstock chassis with an O/S Vette body mounted way too far forward. The arm is too long for Gp 12.
If you want to see serious Wing car racing, visit Port Jeff this weekend for the Barnburner race.
What HalfFast said. If you are near Port Jeff you will learn so much at an event like the Barnburner just hanging around and maybe help out by putting cars back on the right lanes (marshaling).
Then go back on an off night when it's not so crazy and put some fresh tires on it and play. I bet that car will be just fine to start out with, if not you will have qualified coaches to help you get it straightened out.
Enjoy.
BTW, does anyone know who the painter was?
