Sitting at about 97+ percent completed, will work on it till it is done ... tonight!
I jig trued the tires on the car with jack screws ...
Good motor break in duty?
.... OH NO ...threaded axles are horrible for :
WooblE. and Run-Out
This thing might bounce all over the place.
Threaded axles

Come on Bob , you can finish it Just ignore the threaded axle wobble...... All the ones I've got I don't think there's a 100% round/true one amongst em

That's a Dynamic Weapon! Darn wobbly wheels... My vintage 5:40 fronts and rears don't wobble but it sure is a pain getting them straight! A few wall hits later and the threaded stuff needs replacing...
Weebles wobble but they don't fall down!

GOOD GRIEF, BOB!
Your package was just delivered to my door a day early, BY TWO SHERIFF'S OFFICE NARCOTICS DETECTIVES!!!
I about had a heart attack over a little toy car.
Their drug sniffing dog went after your package. Clawed up the box a bit.
The Post Office official who was also present wanted to know why I've been getting Express Mail Packages from all over the country. She had to open your package in front of the officers.
When she removed your Cheetah and some spare tires from the package, the tension level in the room went down considerably!
I showed them my track and explained what a slot car was and about our proxy race and that cars were coming in to me from all over the country.
The officers said that your package probably rubbed against another package that DID contain drugs and that's why the dog hit on yours.
All is OK now but... GOOD GRIEF... these are just little toy cars!

OMG!!!!
That had to be the most tense, scary, and then hilarious moment EVER!!!
Bob, what have you been using to finish off your entry?
Posted 16 July 2014 - 05:26 PM
Rick,
NOW I KNOW WHY YOU HAVEN'T PM'd ME TODAY...
Are you talking to me on a cellular phone? I don't know you! Who is this? Don't come here, I'm hanging up the phone! Prank caller, prank caller!
That's funny...
You HAVE TO write this into the race report.
Did you invite the detectives back for some Friday night racing with your "rental" cars?

The dogs must have hit on Bob's secret weapon! I hope some parts I sent him didn't cause the 'good grief'...
Great story, DC!

COP KNOCK What's in the box?
Talk about special delivery door to door 3186.9 miles in under 24 hours.
... and think of all that manpower... Postmaster General, TSA, Sherriff's Dept. all guarding the special little Cheetah the whole way for a cost of $36.60.
More importantly .... did they all like the Wintergreen smell of the car?
Bad Dog! .... NO!

More importantly .... did they all like the Wintergreen smell of the car?
I wonder if that was the smell the dog hit on!
Thanks, Bob!
Hey, maybe I put oil of Wintergreen in all the cars I send back after the Proxy.

at first.... I thought you were just kidding around.
Knock, Knock, KNOCK
"We are the Man here to see what is in this package of suspicions and then .... all of your slot cars"
. Did they find the Cheetah to be legal for the event...? More importantly ... I hope all this extra excitement doesn't overshadow how well the car looks and runs on your track?

Great story Rick, but probably not so much fun to see those guys on your doorstep!
Guess that seen from the outside, somebody receiving express packages from all over the country (and even France - the worst!) could look a bit suspicious.
Only similar event I experienced was going through luggage inspection at a Paris airport, where a young guy became suspicious seeing all that shiny brass and wire - until he called over an older collegue, who smiled and reassured him - it was only "Circuit 24"!
Don
PS: back to the original subjet, very nice looking car Bob, and my personal prediction is that it will be one of the better runners in this series - just based on what I've seen of vintage racing on twistier tracks over the last 20 years.

I may have figured out the DEA mystery.
The dogs would be 100% correct on the 'drug' hit ....
