I just used my first Koford gear tonight. GVP tuning fork F-1, New .062 thick Swiss horseshoe, one inch motor bracket. Didn't have to grind or sand anything. Oh yea Retro Hawk power so a JK nine tooth super pinion. Looks like there is room for a 10 tooth pinion for the West Coast guys. Happy happy happy that means Any of the crown gears Parma, Red Fox, and Koford will work in my chassis.

I would not do anything to bevel or chamfer your gears. Doesn't matter what anyone says about what you can or can't get away with. Noose will not allow it. Better to clear the frame if possible if your heart is set on running a specific gear. When the gear rule was established to deter machining, I was told personally "Matt the rule is the rule, there is no wiggle room." Lol. Taking the burr off the corner of a gear after turning the diameter down is not and should not be left to a racers interpretation. Lol. Nothing against Koford, but they should have done more testing and realized there are a lot of chassis out there with 3/4 brackets that may like to run bigger pinions in some cases. Like I was told "The rule is the rule, there is no wiggle room."

IRRA Motor Rules
Applies to: Topline & JK Falcon 7, JK Retro Hawk
FK, TSR D3, and Slick 7 Mini Brute
1) All motors must be remain unmodified and as
produced by the manufacturer.
I would like to know whether or not zapping those motors is against the above rules.
Thanks in advance,
Haruki
I was told by a reliable source that "There is NO rule against zapping".
No zap controversy here,Nothing to see here, move along folks.

And what may be "let slide" at a local race where they may be lucky to get 8 guys in attendance will NOT be what's allowed at a major race...I know none of that will fly at Retro East, so use that as your guideline

Matt I completely agree! But Swiss posted in his classified ad that chamfering/ rounding the edge for clearance is ok. I'm completely for no rounding for clearance at all.

Problem there is two guys in the tech line, both have rounded their gears. One guy just a little to clear, the other guy goes a little farther. Third guy goes farther gets the boot and brings up dudes 1and 2. Interpretation is a beotch, that's why there is no wiggle room in the rule.Matt I completely agree! But Swiss posted in his classified ad that chamfering/ rounding the edge for clearance is ok. I'm completely for no rounding for clearance at all.

Since no one asked .. I'll tell you anyway.
When the BoD members contradict each other and don't put out a uniform front to these kinds of issues.
BTW: if a guy comes off and barrel rolls to the lead in the last second .. who wins if there is no time for a track call?
Caveat; I don't go to big races but I'm not blind.

Bob,
There was an entire thread on " the end of the race". : http://slotblog.net/...ace-over/page-3
This is different but still should be addressed. I am going with where it lands as long as it does not jump a section. There is no other fool proof way of doing it. Unless there is video of the entire track. It can't be "Only when obvious". Since there has been organized racing for over fifty years,I think there has to be a precedent set somewhere.
A little thought here. One way to avoid Kamikaze finishes is to not count down the last ten seconds of the race. Announce ten seconds to go and let 'em fly. And no coaching.

Samian- race directing local races I noticed pretty quickly you don't get guys walling their cars after 3-2-1 if you don't say it
'Zackly! Let them race without the Falcon roll or Kamikaze slide job. Leave it to chance. Just gonna suck for the guy heading into the Deadman.

Would it be allowed to start racing with a Retro Hawk motor and get a move up to another race and change from the Retro Hawk to a Pro Slot motor for the next race. The car has to be reteched before the next race anyway. You can change motors and tires, so can we change the type of motor also.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Question to the IRRA™ BoD: Will you consider having the manufacturer weld the endbell to the can on the Retro Hawk motor? This would eliminate the doubt and controversy that they are being disassembled and worked on away from the track.

It may take a few days for the BoD to craft a reply to your question, as at least 60% of us (and perhaps even 80%) are going to be busy through the weekend. Unlike an opinion to the contrary posted elsewhere, the BoD does discuss responses thoroughly before posting them officially.
Patience, please.

Your insistence (and others) the Chinese Pro Slots didn't have 80t any more helped us (four of the five BoD members) solve that mystery.

No problem Mike, I'll always call Bull$hit, when I see Bull$hit.
Also, there was no cheating involved. ProSlot was diligent and reported the change in spec to a representative of the IRRA TM BoD.
I pointed out that the motor did not meet the spec.
