This may have been addressed.

For consideration of the BoD members,

Suggestion:

Post a PDF tech sheet and request competitors to fill out, print off, and bring to tech.

Competitors basically know what they will be running, cross-outs for changes made at the track on race-day would be acceptable. Weight entry should be left blank and recorded on-site by the tech inspector.

Benefits -
1 - Professional image and standardized procedures.
2 - Consistency of forms through out the regions.
3 - Legibility for the Tech Inspector and the photos in race reports.
4 - A database could be maintained as an option if the BoD or Regional Director would desire.

I like this idea Bob, but have you ever had to do this? It takes a lot of work on both the part of the racer and a hell of a lot more on the part of the race official that is supposed to post/record all of this information.

Bob, you have obviously not attended any of the major races nor some of the other regions where I have prepared the tech sheets. All of them for the day have the key specs for the class on them too.

I have made these for other regions to include Retro South, New England, Rock Mountain, etc.

The tech sheets still need a separate chassis manufacturer line, not a very small footnote on the builder line. There are lines for guide, gears, controller, etc., etc., etc., and not one dedicated to the very base of the car?... :(

Rick, guys can write in R-Geo, JK, or the even more popular K&S as they have been.

Yes they can, but it seems more important to know what kit was used then the guide flag being used. I do not understand the resistance to a line that says "chassis kit/mfg" except to quote Jim HT, "Doing it my way because it's my way". I guess you want to see builders name, understandable. :)

My Sano sheets, that Joe makes up, say "Chassis", not "Builder".

I know you find this hard to believe... lot of the forms are NOT fully filled out. Or have goofy Info.

Joe's (Noose's) sheets have all the areas that need to be teched for each class. There is even a line for hand-out motor numbers. Some folks take time... some do not... Tech Directors are teching the cars, not the sheets.

Rick and Rick Jr. have been kind enough to show me as the builder of chassis I have built for them. Many others also. As a builder, I do appreciate it... But if somebody does not, I am not offended. Since Rick is a mfg. I can see why he would want to have his kit indicated on the sheet. I have also seen many mfgs and builders thanking racers on Facebook.

Peace, out...

While I have places to enter all the cool data on our tech sheets, a date and a name are good enough. Pay yer money, pass tech, let's race.

Rick, the very top line says "Type, Size, Manufacturer, Painter" then below Chassis.

This is just a case of you can lead a horse to water...

Half of the time guys put in things like "Gear: Yes".

Well, here's how they did it back in the Arco races.

tawney.jpg

This is Terry Tawney's entry blank from the Arco race in Winter Park, FL, back in 1967 or '68. Note that someone printed a couple of the words thay they couldn't decipher... LOL!

FWIW, it seems Bob Rule still has all of the entry forms from all of the Arco races!

It's cool to see Terry Tawney's name on that old race sheet. Terry T is a racing legend in FL and he has taught me a lot about slot cars.

The posting of tech sheets can be very useful. When I decided to attend a race at a track that I had never been to, I went to the events last years post. I was in hope of finding pictures and teck sheets from the year before to get an idea how many entries in each class and get look at the chassis and what was used to set up the cars(gear ratio, bodies, tires).

All this info was there and all I can say is thanks to the people that took the time to make sure they had included this info in the post about these races.

While my lack of experience on that track and sloooow reflexes due to my age did not show well, I still went, participated, and had an experience that will be remembered with a great deal of enjoyment.

IRRA™ rules questions & answers.   ... thread is locked so I'll ask here.

Can I remove the arms from my Tier 1 P/D motors and get them sealed with Chinese 4002 arms as Tier 2 motors?
