Careful, you guys are going to get Ron and his henchmen going on FB again.
It's been kinda nice seeing the New USRA BOD getting most of their attention and giving the IRRA BOD a bit of a break this week!
Ron and the Ronettes. Or men in tights on FB.

KVP,
Maybe CD7's cars regularly get launched onto a pit table, and get stuck in an R-Geo bending brake.

The above appears to be a style of chassis that's been raced for five-six years.
I had that type of movement on my R4/4 GTC/Can-Am chassis.

There's no hinge. There are two keyed points connecting the pan to the chassis. If thats OK, then cool. I just wanted an IRRA® BoD thumbs up or down.
Thank you,

They are not keyed.
They are bent-up tabs.

I have a concern about a specific chassis that ran in the last GRRR F1 race. Now before anyone jumps on me about this, I think that Rick Moore is the most unique and successful Retro chassis builder in the USA. His cars seem to handle like flexi chassis and he is one of the best racers in Florida. So repeat, this is not a personal attack on Rick.
However, I have a concern about his F1 chassis from the last GRRR race. Having a piece of my thumb gouged away by a Defender chassis recently, I am sensitive about the leading edges of chassis. Rick's F1 chassis has two long "probes" coming up beside the guide flag. I don't see the design advantage in this, but then Rick builds much better cars than I do. I am thinking that if someone was marshalling a car and Rick's car ran into the marshals hand, there is a high potential for a serious wound resulting from this type of construction.
What does the IRRA® board members think about this issue and what does the rank and file think? Please keep your comments civil.

I have never met Rick, but like Doc I admire Rick's chassis work and his dedication to it.
That said I would be in favor of a general rule for any and all slot cars that no chassis parts can extend forward of the guide tongue or even the center of the guide flag post.

The design feature(s) Doc has issue with are not ears.
They are impalers.
If he connected them with a U-shaped piece wire, slightly in front (of them), I would be fine.
The below would be ears and I also consider them fine.

I run Eurosport and Open 12 classes monthly, and none of the chassis of the current designs have anything close to those spears. LOL.
If something is cut off, then that is a whole different ball game, which in most orgs would not be legal.

With all due respect to Rick and his designs, which I marvel at BTW, two blunt ends of piano wire don't cut it. If it had an "L" bent at the end of at least a 1/4" length, I would be fine.
Just so everyone is on the same page, this is a picture of the front of his latest car.

Thanks, Bob.
That is the same chassis/car in question by the original poster.
Here are some more “better” pictures for y’all, at least for those who haven’t already made up their minds...
FYI, I’ve been building all of my F1 chassis with extended front tines for more than six years now, all passing tech and raced without incident, including damage to tracks, other cars, or turn marshals...
If anyone has any questions regarding any chassis specifics concerning this matter, please ask me directly and I’ll gladly discuss them with you…
That said, at this point I really don’t give a flying rat’s patoot if they’re found to be unacceptable and the rule set is amended to make them illegal after the fact…
