This picture popped into my head ... bing ..** **
Check out the race official on the right. Back then the big dude(s) had to be the 'Official' ... and with a name like Rosebud Flower embroidered on his clean white ice cream man suit (and shoes) do you think anybody messed with him about it? ...

Slot Car Racing is Alive and Well in East Central Florida!
By Charlie McCullough, Coastal Angler Magazine
Melbourne, FL – Twelve 1/24 scale Indy Roadster slot cars from around the world converged at the Raceway.biz on September 20, 2014 for a proxy-driven memorial race to honor local automotive racing enthusiast Ray Snodgrass. Times have changed since the slot car craze in 1966-1967. Technology now provides the ability for folks to share information globally, in seconds. The Slotblog.net internet forum for slot cars connects today’s slot car folks, many of whom continue enjoying this intriguing sport some 50 years later…
Bob ‘Gator Bob’ Israelite organized and managed the event for friend Kenny Snodgrass’ father who recently passed away. The Raceway.biz track owner Bill Pinch directed the race with the power set a 11 volts, on the tricky 8-lane tri-oval track.
Ray’s wife Shelby, Kenny’s wife Millie, grandson Scott and great grandson Ethan helped set a memorial table displaying Ray’s stock car racing trophies and picture albums for everyone to enjoy.
Some of the best slot racers in Florida agreed to drive – Lee Fish, Bob Rondione, Terry Tawny, Kenny Snodgrass, Thomas Holland, Dennis Demole, Steve Bowman, and Matt Boman. Interestingly, in this proxy race drivers remained in their respective lane, the cars rotated among drivers taking a turn in each lane to determine most laps for the win.
Drivers interviewed following the race commented how much fun they had and asked how soon another event like this would be coming to The Raceway. “I think the biggest challenge was trying to get used to the different cars handling aspects, and keep them on the track pushing as many laps as the car could take”, said Terry Tawney, “Ya Charlie, some of them would get sideways.” Dennis Demole commented his challenge, “Driving these loose cars, especially #15, was the hard part. Switching the cars on different lanes was a very fun deal – more fun than I thought it would be.”
Local Pro racer and proxy entrant Matt Bowman really helped with the cars. Pre-race tire conditioning, noticing a broken solder joint (Gator Bob repaired), checking guide ride height, and adjusting all the cars for gear mesh and overall tuning improved the times logged in qualifying. These local experienced slot racers kept a close eye on the cars as they drove each one, and a few cars were repaired under green light, then back on the track before the heat ended.
Official Results:
1st place: Matt Boman’s white #8M Harbor City Express Car
2nd Place: Rick Davis’ blue #2 Empire Racing Car
3rd Place: Kenny Snodgrass’ blue #22 Ray Snodgrass Tribute Car
