Yup, it's 3" wide at the wheels and 3 1/4" wide at the body. The chassis width and body width go hand in hand.

Color looks right as rain to me Rick!
I am painting (hopefully if I can find the time) a Kirby M8B with a wing no less for some local retro racing.
Watching your detailing with interest.

Hi Jairus,
I've finally got all the detailing done I'm going to attempt. The decals are all coated with Testors gloss clear (thanks to your sage advice) and trimmed to size. I hope to get them applied today.............

Here's the finished car with a little dude in his Denny Hulme outfit:
Another angle of the interior, roll bar mirrors and big honk'n stacks:
The exhaust pipes on the real cars usually exited below body. Mine exit within the rear bodywork as they did in the 1968 race at Woolward Park, Rhode Island...... ......OK, I made that up. It was just much easier to do it this way.
The Patto's decals worked out well:
Bottoms up:
On my lightly glued track the open motor would light up the vintage orange rubber all the way down the straight.
Rather than add gobs of glue like they did in the day, I chose to run modern fish rubber tires but dress up the wheels a bit with wheel inserts mounted on a plastic tube spacer:
Here's the finished product narrowed to 1969 width of .688":
The car really scoots with its black rubber!
IMHO, these vintage vac formed "handling bodies" really look good with a little bit of extra detailing bits. I think they can hold their own with hard body cars. What's more, they are proportioned to work with more performance oriented (3/4 front - 7/8 rear) wheels and tires.
Thanks for following along with this journey.
Onward to the next build..............

Thanks guys. This is the latest generation type of almost........kinda..........sorta..........semi-scale car I've built and I like it too.
Next I need to get it down to Rodney for testing on Eddie's Blue King before its "Lightning Lap" trial.

Normally when you get an idea Rick it leads to yet more beautiful builds
Are you taking the plunge with one of the F1 cars?
