I don't always go the extra mile, but when I do it's because I missed my exit.
All my life I've strived to keep from becoming a millionaire, so far I've succeeded.
There are three kinds of people in the world, those that are good at math and those that aren't.
No matter how big of a hammer you use, you can't pound common sense into stupid people, believe me, I've tried.

Phil,
I'll let you know. I'm going to try to register it today.
The question for me is the taxes they impose, as GA changed they way they tax new cars and tag renewals a few years back. Not sure how it applies to antique and collector cars.

Are you going to apply for any type of personalized or "antique" license plate like the one below? California even has a "Horseless Carriage" plate for cars older than 1922...

I know that there is special "collector car coverage" for older/low annual mileage vehicles.

I started to get an "Antique Car" tag, until I discovered that they are four times the cost of a regular tag, $80 vs $20, and have to be renewed every year anyway. So the A just has a regular old GA tag.
James,
Because of the length of my trip, I couldn't select the coverage with a 2,500 mile per year limit, so the annual insurance premium was $160. Coverage is collision and agreed value.

Geoff got his first chance to drive it, too.
Got the headlamps off to get rid of those ugly sealed beams and there's a couple of snags involved. Awaiting a new lighting harness from Bert's as they'd cut the connectors off to install the sealed beams.
Have the RH door panel off to clean and lube the window regulator and install the new window channels and razor blade off the overspray on the glass.
Just doing a bunch of tinkering to install some of the small parts (like door bumpers) I've purchased.

When you get the headlights finished, you'll have to re-do your avatar .

Greg has moved his bed to the garage so he can sleep with his baby. ;-)

But that can't be my car, as the rad shell indicates that it is a 1928-29 car.
If I can find the time, I've got another post to make about getting a tag for the A.

Greg… you're correct about the year. It can't be read (crummy camera on phone) but the license plate says 29 on it. I was stopped in traffic when I took it so I didn't have a lot of time to compose or telephoto better…

I must admit that I read this story a few months ago, but am only now re-surfacing to Slotblog, so I just wanted to say how fantastic this story is. It is a fascinating journey for me, as I love road trips and their associated adventures, but when they are told so well, and with such humor and wisdom and curiosity, well... so much the better. Play your cards right and I could see you turning this into a full time gig, ala Anthony Bourdain.
And then, there's the very cool Model A. What a gorgeous car.
Congrats on all the great response you've had, dude.
Looking forward to the sequel, where you turn it into a rat rod and drive it to East Los Angeles for a tuck and roll. On the car, I mean.
