Rick this car is going to be ... I don't have a word to describe. 100 point?
Hi Guys. My little stash of scratch building parts has been a long time coming. Most of it is unpackaged or used and reconditioned. I save the packaged stuff and show it in my build pictures and use loose parts to build the car. I think people enjoy seeing the packaged parts as they were available in the day.
In the early 90's I used to go to toy shows but since 1998 its been looking over all the junk on eBay to find parts. It was easier to get scratch building parts as most people wanted the RTR cars and kit cars then. As people started showing their scratch built cars on the online forums interest grew and so did the need for parts. Then along came "The Big Guy" and things are harder still today.
Anywho, since I'm a slow motion builder my little stash will hopefully last me
Member since: Dec 29, 1998 and you guys have been kicking my on vintage slots since.
Another thing that happens is the seller ends an auction early when he is contacted and receives "an offer he can't refuse". I see that this just happened again on a nice lot of motors that included a Cukras pink can. I wasn't going to bid on it but this has happened to me on auctions I did want. It's a real pisser. As a seller I've always refused to do this.
I have to admit that I did this once back in the 2000s but I won't tell who made the offer I couldn't didn't refuse.
That's a good point Rick, one I had forgotten. You also see items on "buy it now" selling for less than the posted "buy it now" price. So price negotiating has been done outside of ebay. I see more "buy it now" slot car items than I am seeing items to bid on. I think that has impacted ebay's sales volume.
eBay encourages sellers to use BINow.

eBay encourages sellers to use BINow.
Does eBay make money on unsold BINow items? A high percentage of sellers think anything old is worth big bucks & that simply isn't true. They overprice whatever they are selling. Some items have remained unsold on eBay for a year & a half. I know of two Russkit Chappys & a scratchbuilt Ferrari that have been & still are.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

I made more progress on this car....finally! I've got the motor brace in place:
The Lancer Chaparral wing (top half only) trimmed out:
The simple wing mount made up from .030" piano wire:
The wing mount slips into a pin tube piece soldered solidly to the frame:
Here are the pieces together less the wing that needs painting......arg........painting..........
Onward to..........painting, unless I can find something else to do to postpone the dreaded painting process.....

Stunning work on the wing mount Rick ! Is that all one piece of tubing ?!
Could always persuade Jairus to paint the body

Hi Jairus. I'm going to rattle can the body with Testor flat red and the wing with Tamiya gloss aluminum. The wing is red on the real car but I want the thing to really stand out on the track.
Yup Paul, you can't beat a Pro paint job like Jairus does. He even owes me one for a stock car parts trade! I'm going to do this one myself as it's pretty straight forward. I'm saving my Jairus paint job for one that needs his magic touch with his brush for lettering and such. Unless I can finally talk him into painting my Gurney Stocker Tribute car.
Oh, yes, the wing mount is one piece of pin tube.

We have paint! Always a big hurdle for this guy who'd rather be soldering
The Testors flat red covered so well I didn't even have to back it with white and no dreaded air brush to clean

FINISHED! Another project I've managed to drag on for months is finally done:
I finished the wing in gloss aluminum as the car was tested before the 1968 Las Vegas GP........or I just happen to like the way it looked better than in red
Another twelvesome of eBay velocity stacks:
A quartet of honk'n pipes out the back:
A sort of miniature Chris Amon at the wheel:
It runs pretty good with nice handling. It's a bit light on brakes. If it were to run in a timed event proxy I'd try some heavier brush springs. It's got the lightest .014" Certus jobs in it now:
On a lightly glued track, with a high horsepower motor I use modern Alpha Piranha tires:
Onward to the next project

Thanks guys.
I love these early anglewinder PRO cars. The chassis designs are advanced enough that they are fun to drive, they have crazy horsepower to keep you on your toes and they still look a lot like real cars.
Cool Stuff

Love all the detailing om the vac formed shell, looks as good if not better than some static hard bodies.
Could see that easily snagging the concours at some Pro event back in the day
