Awesome is an understatement, Rick... 
Have you ever tried pipettes for CA glue application? (Think of a mini sized turkey baster.)
The Micro-Pipette style, with extended capillary tube works great for precise control of thin CA... and you can re-use them when you're done by rinsing/ lushing with acetone.

Okie Dokie.
I fixated on making a more or less proper grill for my car that will also allow me to strengthen the front end. I showed earlier the styrene blank that will be backed as Chris described above to sturdy up the front:
Unfortunately, this looks like grunt. It needs to look more like the real car:
So, as an inexperienced modeler I tried the "shotgun" approach. I eBay'd a photo etch metal mesh decal material from China, a photo etch metal mesh from South Korea and 50 mesh brass brass screen wire from Baltimore.
Not surprisingly the brass screen showed up first and I put it to use with stuff shown below:
Here's a closeup of the brass screen:
I painted the screen and the plastic piece with Tamiya flat black, sprayed the back of the screen with the 3M adhesive and stuck the two together.......bingo!
It has some lint I need to blow off but overall I'm hopeful that this will work out..........

In my last available area of procrastination before there's nothing left to do except start on the body ( 
).............I made up the wheel inserts from these beautifully done resin wheels. They were turned down on my little Sherline lathe:
The K&B front wheels with Russkit front tires that have been "glued and trued", then the tread grooves re-cut:
Re-machined Russkit Drag rear wheels with "glued and trued" Ortmann Russkit rear tires:
Time to suck it up and start on the body..........Let the comedy of errors begin!

Somehow missed this thread on its initial appearance. Here's an alternate approach to feline taxidermy:
Chassis from a single block of aluminum - DC 706 motor allows for a full cockpit - wheel inserts turned from kit wheels

I REALLY like this car. It handles great and if anything, it's 6V motor makes the car almost too fast 
But I haven't painted it because........well............
It's those beautiful blue stripes.....especially around the huge bulbous hood scoop 
I even have a couple of different sets of decals for the stripes as well the paint option. I just haven't had the balls to try them.
I won't even try to paint a hard body car outside in the winter but when it warms up I will at least paint the white body and finish the details.

I used 3M and Tamiya masking tape - the Tamiya for the separation of the blue stripes then painted with Tamiya rattle cans.

One of the benefits of my solo existence (recently divorced) is that there is no one to tell me that I can't set up a paint booth exhausting to an adjacent window in the second bedroom of my apartment. It works quite well even for my current projects mostly done with air brushed lacquer including some 2 part clear coats. I have discovered, by the way, that even fragile decals like Patto's can be covered over with a water based polyurethane like Kleer and the protected with the aggressive 2 part clear finishes.
