Gentlemen,

I think you might remember the following article that appeared on Model Car & Racing in April, 1968:

Posted Image Posted Image

Posted Image Posted Image

Well, our own Gene "Eldon Shinoda" was there back then (there is a pic of his car and a reference to it being the record breaker at Pontiac Model Raceway's track) and here I would like to show you a couple of cars he made for the Kingee.

Not only that but in the following days you will see other cars based on Gene's series of bodies he has made in the past few months or other cars inspired by that article.

Anyway here's the Arrow Dart painted by Gene in the style of back then:

Posted Image

Please note how the body is attached:

Posted Image

Motor is a Dyna-Rewind 16D I found on eBay. It's been tuned up with the usual Certus parts. Wheels are Kai's Buz-Co replicas. Cox guide with SuperSoft moustaches.

Posted Image

The chassis works with torsion bars:

Posted Image

Posted Image

The next one is a Large Dart painted by Jairus (note the brilliant solution J. found to conceal the big screw which attaches the body to the chassis):

Posted Image

This chassis also works by a torsional system:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Motor is another Dyna-Rewind found on the Bay again. Wheels are Kai's replica Champions.

Posted Image

And here a few shots on the track:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Here the two sisters:

How do they run? Ask my D3 car!

Sorry, Oscar.

Today "the Cars are the Stars" and anyway, the turn marshalls don't have anything to wear.

Edo,

We need to find some white O-rings and white silicone rear tires for these beauties... :)

I remember reading those articles and as a "scale" road racer hated those cars. Now they are pretty cool. Lots of thinking went into some of them. We never really saw any on the East Coast where I raced. It is an interesting part of slot car history.

Gene sent me some of his THINGIE bodies and they are some of the nicest ever! A big THANKS to Eldon Shinoda for his help. He's the type of guy you don't find many of any more! :good: :good: :good:

Gentlemen,

Here is Nostalgic's Fat Boy, which was entered at last year's proxy:

Posted Image

I find the Fat Boy very much inspired by a few of the cars in the article, starting by the brilliant use of an inline Dynamic motor mount for 26D:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Nostalgic was not afraid to give a personal touch with Garvic ball bearing adapters:

Posted Image

Nor he was afraid of adding the legendary (and a mint one!) 26D Dyna-Rewind to his entry:

Posted Image

Please note the accuracy of all the vintage parts he has used, Cox guide, Buz-Co fronts, and original vintage motor wires (three pairs no less!):

Posted Image

And here the "Boy" is ready to take on a wide curve:

Posted Image

... and exiting it!

Posted Image

Do you wanna see more or you don't care? ;)

I am assuming that black ones were used in honor of black slot car tyre history month? (An extra day of history this year!)
That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Hi Gary,

The Wolf (Lupo in italian) has done two more beside the one below. But the assembly is not ready yet. Mind you, Lupo is still practicing on slot cars since he usually does real cars and bikes.

Anyway you can feast your eyes or shake your head is disapprouval in front of another "Bizarro" model.

Gentlemen, here's the Dagger:

Not only is it a cool car, but there is some terrific photography here.

Did you catch the front end of the Dagger in pic #1? It looks like the old "Knight Rider" car with the moving red-orange lights.

By the way, the Howmet chassis is none too shabby either! ;) :) :D
