This is the kind of lamps we use at home.
Problem with fluorescent light for me it that it "vibrates" and disturbs my already poor vision... so I need to use "pure white" incandescent bulbs of which I purchased a big supply before you could not buy them any longer in California.

I can also "see" fluorescent lamp flicker but do not have the same problem with LED lamps. Have you tried them?

LED does not appear to have the "vibration" issue, but my wife who is a fine artist, needs the "pure white" light to paint, and LED always has some form of mild coloration because of the light spectrum it projects. Hence, great for some, not for us...

Does your wife do a lot of her painting outdoors to take advantage of the natural light? I realize that's not always possible.

Bill, no. She takes pictures of subjects she likes, then paint them with oils and compounds she mixes herself at home in her studio. Hence electric lighting has to be as natural as can be, and incandescent, pure white bulbs are best.

Thanks Philippe for your response. Many artists around here are forced inside this time of the year by cool temperatures.

I am fortunate to have two shops to work on anything from full-size vehicles to slot cars or models of some kind. Most people are not that lucky of course and have very limited space to practice their hobbies.

Mr PdL, if you havent investigated this light source yet you might find it of interest !
My wife has extensive glaucoma and a bright and natural light source is very important to her.
For over all room light we have the latest LED ceiling can style lights which do well to fill the room with light
In Her kitchen we kid her that it looks like a major landing strip !
Burt for her reading we have gotten her OttLites , She feels it does provide a very good bright natural light on her pages .

Paul,
Ottlite LED lamps have the same problem for my wife as other LED sources of light: the spectrum of colors ALWAYS come out in some form, and deforms true natural light.
For 99% of people, they are great.
Me, I could work under candle light!

I just got a Tumbler's Tumbler Model B high speed a couple weeks ago. I love the thing!!!
I've tumbled everything I can find. I highly recommend it! It's been running almost 24/7 since I got it.
It's not running right now, and I feel guilty!
I love spending The Kid's inheritance! 😉
