I forgot these the 1/32 Shinoda style thingy. 1/24 as shown for comparison.
Shinoda never did 1/32 thingy molds as shown below.
The rest shown are hand-carved wood molds from photos.
Take car,
g
This is what an original Shinoda Point looks like, this one as shown is a first generation from the original wood mold; you can see the wood grain.
The Shinoda style point, left 1/32, right 1/24, backpour from a first generation original Shinoda body.
The Shinoda style Big Buss, left 1/32, right 1/24.
The Shinoda style Bat Car, left 1/32, center 1/24, right 1/24 (3-1/4" wide Bat Car Exothermic).
The Bat Car as shown in the center may or may not be a Shinoda design; it's been a gray area.

Just saw the long article on this in Slot Cars Magazine (hand-delivered to Bordo...). Have you tried it on a track yet? Curious to know if the weight transfer works...

Don,
I live 80 miles from my local track and are preparing to go middle of this week. I will let you know how it handles with that weight transfer system.

SPECIAL THANKS to the following gents!
THE CAST:
Master fabricator Jairus Watson built the entire project slot car.
The X Minus One body is from Gene Adams of GenesWorld and was trimmed and painted by Jairus Watson.
The chassis is an Evo Iso Fulcrum Jaildoor Watson bilt.
The Motor is a FT16D Mabuchi with a S.V.P. armature rewound and balanced. A Marin County company back in the day.
The Mabuchi can has a ball bearing installed by John Havlicek and he did all motor prep including his own wound brush springs.
The can uses Special Magnets and Brass Post Protectors in case of excess heat.
Yellow Silicone Foamies are Alpha (I believe)hand prepped silicone coated by Jim Honeycutt.
Fronts are 19mm/3/4" Gold anodized Tamiya Mini 4WD 2mm ID Ball Rollers with special Yellow Tamiya Rubber O-Rings.
THE HISTORY:
From DC Comics.
Catman is a Gotham City criminal who mixes it up with Batman.
Since Vigilantes use special cars, now also do the Criminal element, hence this awesome ride!
It is rumored that Thomas Wayne was planning a new luxury automobile brand to compete with Maserati - Bentley and Jaguar.
When he was murdered, the four prototypes disappeared from Wayne Industries....???

This big muscle street rod theme is the work of Master Painter Jairus!
The body was created and pulled by Mike Zimmerman a.k.a. 32 Deuce,
who has created a whole line of original Thingie slot car bodies!
Thankfully I got my hands on some of his wonderful clear bodies and they are all out-of-this-world concepts!
"Alien" - "UFO" - "Scorpion" and others I am sure but probably not aware of!
A vintage scratch built chassis by ?Mystery? - vintage front wheels and O-Rings tires
and a Hot Mabuchi based FT16D motor that I built for just for this project car.
The motor will see additional upgrades upon it's arrival fro Watson Studios.
Lastly the H&R crown gear and Foam rear tires to be upgraded to Silicone-Foamie shortly.

I think the chassis is by Associated, Max. They did this one, plus an open wheel version without the outriggers. Runs well.
In any case, watch out for the front axle - it sometimes comes unsoldered and just turns in the little steel washers that are also used to hold it on... you might want to solder an extra something to reinforce it.

Don, this chassis is an International. Variations of it are on Jim Allen's scratchbuilt.com.

Thanks Bill - I remembered that off the top of my head, never a good idea! I keep checking this each time, and then forgetting the manufacturer's name.
Did you see that a rather rare and even unknown International chassis just sold for over $250 on ebay!

Don, I don't recall seeing that chassis. Can you briefly describe it, in case it was something I overlooked? The only thing I recall seeing in the past 6 mo. were several over-priced "vintage" International cars that were assembled from parts.

Thanks Don, that's a chassis I didn't see. I find it interesting that it doesn't use International's usual 1/16" dropped front axle.
I'm not sure of the high price but some of the bidding looks questionable. One bidder, other than the winner, made 17 individual bids in 3 min. 39 sec. to raise the price each time. That's one bid every 14.05 seconds. That's fast fingers, unless it represents something done electronically. I've seen the same type of bidding taking place in other eBay auctions & delete those items from the Slotblog eBay forum. I probably didn't catch them all.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.

If you make a high "max" bid, it's done automaticaly a little at a time until someone bids more than your max.

Posted 18 September 2018 - 08:52 PM
I know that John, but the 17 individual bids made during the 3 min. 29 sec. period were made by by one person or device. It would appear that some one has learned how to very quickly increase eBay bidding prices, because that's the only thing the 17 quickly made bids accomplished.
I intend to live forever! So far, so good.
