The Pace Car chassis.
Small Bus, GT, and the a Small Dart.
Above are simple builds that anyone can do, no frame jig needed and the bodies are hand brush painted, three colors. These are racers.
These were in a box I picked up, not pretty as you can see, but when you look at them, these did race in the day and someone did there best to create their dream racer.
I will keep them to preserve someone's dream.
Enjoy,

I am trying to put together a race set I got for Christmas in about 1963-64, It cost around $30 new,and I will race these cars just for memories. (I am willing to pay for a original complete set, near mint would be nice.)
My set came with a blue D-jag and a red Testa Rossa. The cars had a open style motor, black plastic chassis.
I see different color\shades of these bodies on eBay; which one is the correct color?
I can post photos of what I have.
I have bits and pieces, but it appears that Strombecker went crazy and it is very had to figure what years and pieces went with what.
Where can you get the press-on wheels with the ridge and the tires that fit that rim? It appears that there were two different diameter tires.
I have the box and track and black squeeze controllers, but no complete original cars to complete the set. I totally wore the cars out; these were fun.
Nice hearing from you. How are Edo, Philippe, and the rest doing?
Thanks,
g

Edo and Philippe are both playing with big cars and motorcycles these days, but Philippe is still trying to finish his new book!
All the red and blue ones I have seem to be the same shade, but it wouldn't surprise me that there were variations - Strombecker did so much stuff!
I don't have anything like new, but can see what I have in the used category... if not, there's always stuff popping up on eBay - but be careful, both are often missing the windshield and the Testa Rossa is almost always missing the exhausts! Do you remember how long yours stayed on before they fell off?
I probably have some wheels and tires around too, and there's even a guy here who sells a lot of NOS Strombecker stuff, since they had a big operation in France for a couple years...
That set you had is probably one of the most classic of all the Strombecker sets! Probably a lot floating around, but maybe not too many mint ones....
Cheers,
Don
