My winter work schedule is starting to wind down and I'm starting to get some time. In addition to starting to wade through a backlog of orders, I've had some time to do further work on the chassis shown earlier. Here is a quick synopsis of the above cars and one new one which is a variation of the "not" no brainer car.
Torsion car: This car seemed fairly good at the the start but I could never get it better than that. Suspending work on this one and will probably break it down for parts...........
X-3: This has been worked with a lot and sometimes is very good but other times notsomuch. Suspending this one for now but will probably take it up again later. FWIW....the original X-1 is still very good.
No Brainer: This is still very good and will get further development via weight and wheelbase/guide lead. This will be a standard build for the near future while I play with variations.
The "not" no brainer: This frame has developed very well and now that I've worked with it and built a few more besides. Variations on this one will become one of my standard builds.
Here is a new micro rail version of the "NNB"...................the "Micro not"............
- 7 rails/side of .039 on a 4" WB X .925" GL
- R-Geo .050 angled face bracket. I'm really liking this bracket although this is not the most recent version which is even better
- Two additional half rails of .039 near the back to stiffen in front of the bracket.
- Pans are 4 X .047. Front pan hinges = .055 in 3/32 tubes. Rear outrigger pan hinge/pivot.
- Front brass = .032, rear brass (outriggers) = .064 X 1/4"
- Weight as shown in pic #2 = 92 gr. Center weight = 5.5 gr.
- This frame has a fair bit more twist flex than the original 5 X .047
- We shall see........................................
