When Jay, Bobby, and I arrived at Tom Thumb this morning at 7:40 AM, ten minutes after the doors were opened, the Can-Am Group A registration line was already wrapped around from one side of the building to the other. Because of the number of entries in Can-Am, the racers are divided into two groups who practice separately, simply to reduce the number of racers trying to get some laps.
Lots of new faces today. Should be a heck of a Can-Am class...

Can-Am group A is qualifying now, as group B is being teched-in.
Don't know the total entry yet, but should have a number soon.
I'm racing in the Can-Am class, which should surprise those who know how rarely I race these days. The point is that I may not be able to post the results today as quickly as yesterday.

Another notable racer from the past made an appearance at the R4/9 today, Don Barber, who was USRA Group 7 National Champion in 1975. Today Don operates Barber Bodies and is based in Cincinnati.
That's Don on the right, conversing with Steve Deiters.

The R4 racing format from here on merits a mention.
The racers with the top 16 lap totals will be alternatively seeded into two Semis.
Then the top four finishers from each semi, regardless of lap totals, will advance into the Final.

Overall results from the A through G Mains:
Note: Two of the 58 racers original entered did not compete: Diana Dyckman and Earl Graybill.
The even finishers of the top 16 will race in the B Semi.
The odd finishers of the top 16 will race in the A Semi.
