These are the new Retro Hawks I just got in. Hmmm...

Something seem's fishy... I thought the long endbell shaft was a IRRA® specification?

Very interesting.
IRRA® allowed motor announcement to follow...

Check to see if the comm is wrapped, if it's not it's almost certainly a Hawk 7.

Tracy,
How many did you get in and were they all with the new 7R and old R MADE IN CHINA markings?
Are there any markings on new Hawk 7s?
Posted 11 April 2016 - 07:33 PM
It's for real, there is a announcement on the JK Facebook page stating all motors are going to have the short shfts now... there is now nothing stopping people from putting Hawk 7 arms in Retro Hawk set-ups...

Hang on to those Puppy Dogs, they may be making a comeback!

Quite the buzz on social media. My outlook on this is to evaluate which motor gets the most sales and make a one motor decision. This will greatly eliminate the temptations to cheating.

We should allow either motor to be raced, whether its an Hawk 7 or a Hawk Retro. How is the tech inspector to know which motor it is.
BTW Jay: The H7 comes wrapped also. At least this is not April 1. LOL.

The 7R marking would distinguish it from a Hawk 7 wouldn't it? I hope!

Yeah, right you are Doc, however I do have some older Hawk 7s with no comm wrap. That said, all of the newer ones I have do have the wrapped comm.
Looks like hand-out motor races are about to become more popular.

Guess it's time to outlaw Retro Hawks and go BACK to the TSR motors!! Simple solution really!! Takes the "guesswork" out of wondering what motor you're running!!

Well the ONLY thing consistent about Retro Hawks is they keep CHANGING!! First, hard brushes, then soft brushes, now short shafts?? It's ridiculous!! No way to ensure these will remain techable!
It really is time to go back to TSR and Falcon VIIs!!
I'll bet with our Zimmerman coming up in a few weeks, we'll have to "outlaw" any of these new motors!! What a complete "cluster" F!!

Might be time to put the Retro cars away and get back to my flexi stuff. I was already sick of these hawk motors... too hard to find the fast ones...

It truly is an entertaining world. How will the IRRA® prevent people from changing to a Hawk 7 arm?
Not a huge person to agree with he who shall not be named... but I think he may be onto something on Facebook.
What will the policing be?
