R4 race coverage

Jay and I left Atlanta about 4:00 pm on Thursday (Jay continued to illustrate why I call him "the late Jay Guard"; we had hoped to get out of town by 2:30 or so... LOL!), which put into Columbus about 2:00 am Friday morning. Since Tom Thumb was opening Friday at 10:00 am, we did get a decent amount of shut-eye.
We got to the track few minutes after 10:00, and there were already a fair number of racers already tweaking, testing, and tuning. It was immediately clear that the qualty of retro racers showing up for this event is, if anything, exceeding the high standard set at the Sano. We'll start with some pictures of the racers in attendance.
Garry Haworth, Noblesville, IN.
Jay Guard, Anniston, AL
Bill Fulmer, Canton, OH
Bill "BillyBob" Newland, Indianapolis, IN
Bob Oaks, Wauconda, IL
Front to back, Butch Dunaway, Oxford, OH; Dennis Samson, Irvine, CA; and Joe Neumeister, Denville, NJ.
Jack Beers, Hanover Park, IL
Ray Price, Rolling Meadows, IL in front, Basil Michael of Des Plaines, IL, in the rear.

By lucky happenstance, we have 32 entries for GT Coupe, which means a tidy four full mains.
Concours was judged by Mike McMasters before we started racing and the winners were Joe "Noose" Neumeister (1st) Jack Beers (2nd), and Dennis Samson (3rd). I missed snapping a pics of the concours winners, so you'll need to refer to the car pics in the cars thread.
The A main will run first and here's the line-up:
Ken Green - red
Brian McPherson - white
Bill Fulmer - green
Bob Oaks - orange
Garry Haworth - blue
Ray Price - yellow
Joe Neumeister - purple
Dave Fiedler - black
As at the Sano, we'll be attempting to upload the heat results to Slotblog before the next heat starts. Just keep this thread open in your browser and hit "refresh" every five or so minutes.

As an aside, I wonder when the last F1 race that attracted 29 entries was held? Not for many years, I'm betting.
The results of concours judging were Dennis Samson in first place, Joe Neumeister in second, and Jack Beers in third.

I have a BUNCH of pictures to post but these will have to wait until there's time to get to it. Just like at the Sano, every car will be shown, top and bottom.
R4 race coverage will start up again in morning!

Somebody please give Garry Haworth a HI! for me
Bob,
Your greetings to Garry have been delivered.
Garry said, "Bob's a good friend. See my slot box? Bob backed over it in his truck a while back..."
Methinks Gary must have a low standard for friends!!! LOL!!!

"Does Flexi count for final points??"
John,
Unlike the Sano, there is no combined points scheme here at the R4. Basically, every race stands alone.

Ray,
Not sure what took more out of folks, the racing or the bench racing...
Yesterday, everyone was pumped and smiling. This morning, folks are still excited about being here, but everyone looks pretty tired!

I want to know what's up with Jay Guard. He was a force to be reckoned with when he lived and raced in Texas.

You know Jay's getting up in years, but his biggest problem is the guy he's traveling with...
