The detailed interior & the "Honk'n" pipes really make this a visual standout!
I'll have to remember to draw on these builds for detailing ideas.
Thanks for sharing all this experience.

Marcus

Marcus, were you aware that Rick has five pages of his builds listed in The DC-65X Diaries, a sub-forum to the 1/24 Vintage Cars Forum here on Slotblog?

Great to see you building this car Rick. Another amazing car brought back from the past with exquisite workmanship and beauty  to show us what was happening back then.

Thanks, Bill.

Yes, I've been working my way through the "DC-65X Diaries", saving "Evernote" links on my phone with additional notes & tags about things I want to build or tips I'll want to remember. I mad it through the pro-car threads, & there's still so much to read that I missed during the years I wasn't on Slotblog. Too many good friends gone, but I want to be in touch with the rest while we are still here. It's bittersweet to read posts by our departed members. Sad they are gone, but good to read & remember them. It's almost like hearing them again.

Only 764 days until my own retirement, so I hope to be posting some projects of my own when I'm no longer "workin' for the man". 'Til then, I can plan & dream. Tonight has been slow, so I've seen more posts than usual during breaks & slow times.

Thank you, Bill. I've obviously missed a lot, but I'm trying to catch up as best I can.

Depression can be a deep hole, but I can at least see daylight again. I'm especially disappointed that I missed the '69 race builds in 2014, since that was part of my most active period. I built anglewinders for friends, & three of us even made it to Hinsdale (I think it was the Arco, in '68 or '69). My Dad drove me & two friends. I remember going down into a basement, & being blown away by the presence of so many pros finishing their setups/practice time. I bought a Dave Bloom body for later use, & managed to make one move-up (from the lowest consi, with IIRC 4 participants) into the next, where I DNF'd. Still I wouldn't give up the experience of watching those guys move faster on a Blue King than anything I'd ever seen on my home track (an American Black) in Kenosha.

Thank you Rick!

Just got back from the Double Trouble vintage meeting in Rockingham, England, where I won the 1/24 category with a car that had a chassis inspired by this one!

Will try to post a photo here too, but in the meantime it's in post 39 on SlotForum:

https://www.slotforu...c=185323&page=3

I had to adapt a few things (no Duffy's, but I used Dynamic bushings that are kind of similar); it's a narrower car, so only used 3 rails, and made a few other modifications, but it ran great the first time out, just added a bit of lead to the drop arm. And I used a 26D size Mabuchi FT270S (their last gasp) instead of a 16D, since these motors do well on most tracks here. Finished 4th in the race (out of 24) and 1st on Concours to take the overall win in 1/24 (Bordo/Turin rules).

Thanks for the inspiration Rick!

Don, both car & chassis look like they're quality builds.Congratulations on a very good weekend! :)  What's the motor in this car?

The body is a Lancer restored and painted by a buddy of mine... Rick's overly modest about his painting talents, I'm very realistic about mine.

Motor specs given above Bill: Mabuchi 270S, a last gasp by Mabuchi to compete in the market. Not many of them around, a few went to Italy, maybe for some late 60s cars, and that's where I've found a couple. They're 26D size, with shunted brushes, balancing, a ball bearing and a moderately hot wind.

Here's a couple shots of my "Rick Steube" inspired chassis - thanks Rick! Not at all as sano as yours, but few are...
