There is a rule on thickness pappy. And that rule is clear that tape may be added in order to be brought to legal. Parma also has thickness issues at times and require tape. So that rule is in place for all approved manufacturers so racers dollars are not wasted on a body from the company or shop that can not be made to fit within the legal parameters. If I buy a thin Parma...and were not allowed to use tape....I would have just wasted money. And who would be held accountable? Who would refund me? The Irra? Parma? The local shop? All the reasons the tape rule is in because it's not a perfect run and the most inportant thing is for racers to be able to race and support local tracks.

Butters,
To clarify, if a body is thin enough that poking a pin through it causes it to tear wide open, it's too thin. 40 plus years of playing with toy cars tells me this.
You are really just stirring the pot, exactly as Hershman has done for many years. If you think you can make a difference, then show us all.

Butters, as stupid as I am, I can still see that you are just stirring the pot. Your questions have been answered numerous times.

It's ridiculous, isn't it? We keep responding the same questions over and over, so we're at fault as well.

Butters, why don't you become the distributor of O/S bodies like Noose is the distributor for Dilworth bodies? That might solve the problem.

This is a simple Fix, Butters. Willy and Ralph if he wish's to step up will be Ron's dist. team. Have Ron agree on Facebook and you guys take up the task for Retro bodies only and this on the side for the last 5 yrs plus the best way to get Ron on the Phone is by Text  or PM him on FB it always works there is a trail of the talk covers everyone that way

I have made that offer to Ron. I can't force him to choose to allow it. I am not stirring the pot, Pappy. I'm simply stating the facts. No true answers have been given to Ron or here. Availability is a relative term. The BoD are looking for a number... a number of raceways that have stock or the ability to get stock. Swiss' numbers seem to meet the IRRA® rule. What are those numbers? Plain and simple.

He answers every time I call and I spoke with him yesterday in person. My offer was discussed both times all within the last three days.

Ones opinion of the owner of O/S are not in question. It's the bodies availability.

You're talking the last three days, everyone else is talking the last three years of having a hard time getting his product.

Chicagoland is not in distribution house so REH isn't part of the discussion. I just gave a small sample. Once I found out what O/S were from racers in my area I've had zero issues getting direct. That is now over a year ago. Once again just my experience

Are slot car parts Ron's sole source of income, or does he have a full time job? Or retired? I ask because it doesn't appear he cares if he sells bodies or not.

With the amount of bodies wing races and in podium shots just in F1... it appears he sells a lot. Also O/S sell various other styles of bodies for different classes. We on here are just discussing the Retro portion of the catalog

I'm sure those tracks that Ron won't return their calls race other classes as well, so it's not just about Retro.

Butters, you keep saying the board won't answer your questions but you haven't answered my question yet. How many were at the race yesterday? Inquiring minds want to know.  :)

Jason, the time tape is allowed, and that is across the full thin side, is if the nose thickness passes tech. If that does not pass then the body was not pulled from the correct thickness of plastic.

What bearing does that have on the topic at hand, Butch? This is an IRRA® thread on the IRRA® forum. And that is what we are discussing. If you want to discuss yesterday you are more than welcome to PM me as we want this to stay on topic.

So did you do the "thickness" yesterday on the top three?

Hey Willy, Parmas have won and so have C/R bodies in F1. In CanAm, GTC and Stock Car it's all Parma and VFC. Wonder why that is.

Also if you really check those that have run and won with the OS M7 have had them a long time. Matt sure has and so has Grandi. I know because I see ALL the cars not just the podium ones.

That was the first race, Willy. Yesterday was Can-Am and Stock Car. Just so Noose knows the F1 race is what the question is about.

Willy, every body yesterday was measured yesterday. All 73 entries and all passed tech. Everyone saw me do it, too.

Were bodies measured at the BRS race yesterday? Oh, I forgot there is no body thickness rule in Ron's series.

We only see the podium in your reports, Noose. So that is what we go by. And if any Retro East racers you know would likeO/S bodies but feel they are unable please have them directed to jasonengel37@gmail.com and I will make sure they get them. Since so many feel like they can't I'll solve it for Retro East racers out of the goodness of my heart.
