pointless tangents of your posts.
When doing CAD work I occasionally find there are pointles... oops! This is a pointless tangent!

No one complained when there wasn't a race report for this years R4 and the only pictures taken were because Bill was there to take them.
Sometimes people don't have time to post pictures or even take pictures when there is racing and tech to do.
2016 Fall Brawl pictures
These pictures are the winning cars for GTC, Can-Am, and F1.
Like Noose said, he didn't race Can-Am Plus or RetroPro this year so he was not in the room where the King is to get those pictures. It should have been one of the guys that raced those classes to get those photos.

Mark, I am sure Duran knows I meant no disrespect to him not having the photos.
But when you step up to the plate and do what I, Bryan, Keith, Dom, Grant, and others do to get the news out to those that don't attend a race then you and all others can claim you have a right to complain.
What's worse is when all of this reporting in expected instantly. People do have lives outside of slot racing.

If all of this is because Duran didn't get his kudos on an Internet page? He could care less.
Please re-read the subject line, Jason. It is not about Duran...
Based on the few responses to the question I asked at least twice in this thread, it sure seems like only a minority feel race reports and pics are important.
Just another example showing that most racers just want to race, I guess.

I think most racers feel race reports are important. This thread got side-tracked on Fall Brawl photo issue right from the get go as we were 11 or 12 posts in before the thread was split off and the title was chosen. As I've said before, most Slotblog members read the threads but don't post.

Inane post #52 indicates it is.
It's probably what inspired Jason's post.

Reports are important. After all, all we race for is the glory. There is no other prizes.
They are especially important for the lower main racers that finally win A Main. When I started writing the Retro East reports we always try to treat lower mains as important as the A Main, a policy which Noose continues to this day.

We should document our races as best we can so the future slot racers can read what we did.

Greg,
I feel reports are Important and I love to read about the races that I need not attend.
But I still think this posts title is misleading if you read the posts from the west.
A thumbs up to all that do reports. But no one has the right to point a finger at anyone when it doesn't happen or why it didn't.
Just move on.

Being in a desert, so to speak, for Retro the reports and pictures are my water. Please don't stop Noose, Bryan, et al.

Well, Mark, I guess you broke your word.
But now that you're back, you can reread the below quote, so you are 100% certain, what most people think about your participation in this thread.

Yeah, but it seems that pot stirring is in vogue these days. It's okay if you want to re-post old posts and get another round or two. Its your sandbox. Whatever...
Just as a side note, what happened to your post " Uncle, Bryan is the best." It got deleted after I gave it a thumbs up. Well, Bryan isn't the best then?
I mean, it's like pot stirring begets more pot stirring. You deleted a good post, so I think maybe others might be curious, that's all. As I said I'm biased and yes, this thread has wondered way off base with plenty of racers off on tangents. As long as it's respectful. That would be nice.

First of all, it isn't Mike's sandbox, it's mine and it rather annoys me that you think otherwise.
Second, it also really annoys me that every time a post gets deleted here, someone infers some evil reason it might have happened.
That post was unintentionally duplicated (I can see both copies in the mod's trash can) and I suspect that multiple mods and admins were working at the same time to resolve that thus leading to both posts going away.
If you have a problem with Slotblog, you need to PM me, not accuse in public a member of mod team of having ulterior motives. Got it?
You've been suspended here before and quite frankly you're not far from having it happen again... by me.

The topic of this thread is very clear: "Who feels race reports and pics are important?"
Cease the thread drift along with the idiotic accusations and address the question or the lock will click shut.

Yes, Greg, I'm well aware of that. I'm not accusing Mike of any evil intent by deleting what I consider a generous admission. You can understand that I and others would be curious about it. I stand corrected on that not being Mike's sandbox. Got it.

It is important. Always was and always will be to people who care. Those who don't, won't be interested in this topic.
Pretty simple really.

I'm late to the party, but I feel race reports and pictures are very important, and both are necessary to properly doocument an event.
And as to who does it best? My vote goes to the late Rob Walker. I bought Road & Track just to read his race reports.

I love the pictures!
I like to see pictures of the performers. But I don't mean pics of the guys pulling the trigger; I enjoy seeing the cars that set the pace. It would seem that every builder (Retro, of course) has his/her own way of constructing a chassis, and it's enlightening to see how others solve issues that I've faced, too.
Creative paint jobs are also pretty cool to see.

I strongly feel it is the responsibility of the race promoter (i.e. track owner or outside race group) to, at a minimum, arrange to have the race results posted on Slotblog. I know that many are posting on Facebook but in some cases the info is hard to find and in just a short while it can get buried. Also everyone (believe it or not) isn't on Facebook.
Pictures are a huge bonus but are only a nice-to-have extra and are not what I would consider a "requirement." My favorite by far is pictures of the top and bottom of the top three (or more) winning chassis. It's awesome info for us chassis builders but again not what I would consider a responsibility.
