Nobody wrote a better race report than Mike Morrissey. You could live the experience of being at the race through his words in Model Car Journal. He gave you all the back stories and killer chassis shots to keep everyone up to date on what the jet set were up to. I could not wait for the new issue to arrive. Mike made heros and legends of the racers of that era.

I think good race reports with chassis pictures inspire the racers to build something new and anytime you can put someone's mug up for everyone to see it encourages them.

Got to say... I enjoy reading the race reports or looking at the pictures. I read every Retro East report by Noose and I always check Bill Fulmer's pictures and his posts on here about the ORS and IRRA® races he attends. I look at Ron's posts on Facebook from the RETRO races. And any others I come by on the blog.

It's enjoyable to see what's going on in racing. And honestly it's a thankless job. A lot of time is invested by all just to let others see what is going on. I love the fact that guys take the time to do this for us and I hope it continues in the future. A huge thanks to all that do them so us silly children can see what's going on!

I feel race reports with pictures made pro racing back in the '60s and is a major reason for the growth of Retro.

Amen, Tony! I'm surprised that so many people involved in the competitive 1/24 hobby seemingly don't realize this.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I think the Internet is largely responsible for the grow of Retro. If Paul Meiers and Slot Car Bulletin was still around, Retro would be even bigger.

I check out all the race reports. They let me see that people are involved in the hobby and feel hope for continuation of it. The more info and photos the better. I love to look at the cars and specs other people are running.

Gene invented the "like you were there" race reports. Mike took it to the next level. Thanks for both of them. I lived for their reports.

The thread qustion is (IMO) a rhetorical question. Of course race reports are important. And as Tony pointed out, I agree with him that back in the 60's, race reports help in increasing interest in slot racing. However, I wonder sometimes whether my Florida My Series reports are even read by racers here in Florida. I get less than 100 reviews and 1 "Like" from someone who does not race with us.  Why do I bother?

One in a while I'll post results of our weekly races.  There's no pics, but I get 65-75 views.  That's pretty good since we're a tiny track.  I could probably double  that amount if I posted pics.

I must apologize for the lack of race reporting it was my first National event as manager of the SpeedZone NJ. Was understaffed and a little overwhelmed. Next year it will be on point.

All in all it was a very good turn-out and race condition where superb.

I'd like to give Jim Fowler a plug for his excellent race reports. And a lot more.

I have no idea how he accomplishes everything that he does to support the NorCal program. He builds and maintains a lot of cars, races very competitively, supplies loaners to lazy locals, keeps the track owners happy, and somehow keeps the whole thing operating at the level where it is still fun, win or lose. As you know, that ain't easy!
