Just wondering when we will vote on the proposals that were proposed?

Fortunately I saw the discussion and was able to get a proposal of my own on the ballot. The bumper rule meshes up perfectly with the newly-formed national series rules. I'm very excited as a participating My Series racer to be able to vote on the topic.

Been looking for anything with a date for a vote I haven't came across anything if someone could help out it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mike: Bill Pinch sent out an email having a ballot to vote on 11 items. Also, Bill brought ballots to the endurance race at Holly Hill. Please check your email if you got a ballot. Maybe you are not on Bill's email list. I can add your vote to the listing. I have all the votes with me now. However, I am reluctant to release the results until the directors agree on several matters.

If you did not get a ballot from Bill, please PM me your email address and I will forward the ballot to you.

The vote already happened I never saw anything posted anywhere about the vote taking place? By email? That's kind of interesting. Email is computer based but nothing was said on any message boards. I would imagine I'm not the only one who had no idea it was happening...

Just curious of the results of my bumper proposal? National Flexi Series has came about since my bumper proposal and they like most areas in the country don't require a useless front 1/8 bumper I was curious how our vote would turn out.

As I said above, ballots were sent out by email. After being out for 2 weeks, I called Bill and asked about the voting. He said that I was the only one who sent back my vote. Too much apathy here in Florida. I know that nearly all My Series racers are on his email list. Eventually, 3 or 4 racers had sent back their ballots by email. At Holly Hill about 10 more ballots were turned in.

I do my part for My Series even though I am just another racers trying to get on the podium. I publish the race results as fast as I can with pictures. I also keep track of the driver points and publish those within a reasonable amount of time after a race.

I hope to see you at the next My Series race.

Since we already run the wedged nascar body there is no advantage to further wedging the bodies. It's actually a disadvantage because it unbalances the car. Guess you have to try it to actually know.

To answer your question they don't have a front bumper rule in the national rules, only a rule that you can't cut into the top of the body. At a track like Greg's the crossovers cause the guide to drop and often you have to trim bodies. One more thing for a racer to worry about that they shouldn't have to. It helps the new guy trying to mount his own body for the first time way more than it helps me or dz.

I've been around slot racing in Florida and supported it a lot longer than some people like to give me credit for. Longer than everyone not named Danny Zona or Terry Tawney. I'm not in the 2nd tier of racers where I need to propose rules to help myself win races or be more competitive. Even though changing the bumper rule is meant for beginners it seems the wrong person proposed the change.

What was the result of the bumper vote, my lone proposal?? lol I have a strange feeling it wasn't even included in the ballot. What a slap in the face that would be...

I responded to your question Doc before you edited your post... That sounds about as dysfunctional of a vote as it gets. It wasn't mentioned here for a reason. I will keep the rest of my comments and opinions to myself...

So did we vote on my proposal?? That is the only question I have left...

Mike: I don't know anything about a "slap in the face". Also, you should realize that the My Series directors do NOT take an active part in the message boards in order to disseminate information.  Again apathy. You have a My Series director right up there in Holly Hill with you. Do you contact Greg and let him know about your rule proposal?

Here is something that I find interesting. This thread was started this morning on Turkey Day at 9:33am. In only 5 hours, there have been nearly as many views of this thread than my post back on Nov 12 containing the race results got in 2 weeks. Sad.

You seem to be very involved on these boards on behalf of the series and if I read correctly you somehow have all the ballots? A topic that you seem to have major authority on was brought up by you and discussed but then the vote happened without even a mention on here of when the vote was happening? Or inclusion of proposals brought up on the thread? I'll bite my tongue now...

Please read my post #8 and #2.

Like I said, I do what I think is an important function for My Series. I publish the race results and keep track of the driver points. And I get no thanks for that. I had nothing to do with what options got on the ballot.

And furthermore, if you are so adamant about your bumper rule, why didn't you make sure it got on the ballot or discuss it with the directors. What director did you contact concerning your bumper rule? Name that director!

Once again, I had nothing to do with what got on the ballot or not.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out whats going on here. How many people ended up voting? Do you think we would have had more votes had the vote been mentioned ANYWHERE????? I had 1 proposal in a thread started by the guy who posts EVERYTHING for the series on slotblog I'm not sure where else to post ideas?? Like I said its obvious and what you seem to forget is I'm not the only one who got screwed out of voting. Lots of people did. SHADY!!!

Well Mike, I am a rocket scientist. Anyway, you have to promote your own ideas. The vote that you mentioned was taken at your home track. All you needed to do was to show up.  In addition, hundreds of racers got Bill's email.  You can still vote. I asked you to PM me your email address and I will forward to you the ballot. It seems that I am very understanding and accommodating here; just need some cooperation from you.

And again, I think that it's sad that this thread now has more views than the last race report and 2 LIKES vs 1.

It's not just about me and my proposal that was purposely omitted. It's about all the racers who didn't get to vote. You don't seem to understand this. It wasn't mentioned here or anywhere else purposely. Email?? Even those who have email most likely never got them because they weren't looking for them. Why?? Oh yeah because nobody ever said anything about an upcoming vote. What a joke. I know what happened and it's a shame.

I would have raced but I didn't have the endurance style chassis, another instance of Florida just trying to be "different" why can't we just use normal chassis that everyone has?? I would have had cars that were legal and I would have been there. But again I know nothing and have no input.

Mike:

I really don't think there is a "shady" conspiracy theory going on in My Series.  I think that the directors could do a better job of getting information out via a dedicated forum here on Slotblog where My Series directors (or other's) proposals could be put forward and openly discussed.  I'm sure Greg Wells could set that up but the My Series directors would have to agree to actively participate in at least a minimal level.  However that is a bit of a different question and one that I would like to propose to the My Series directors.

I for one want to give a big THANKS!!! to Doc for doing all the work he does to keep us informed about My Series.

Finally I know you are a very dedicated racer (to say the least) but you are trying to tell us that not having a $20 chassis or two is keeping you from participating in the series, REALLY?

This is not on topic but since it has been part of the discussion, I'll state my opinion.

I believe e-mail is a better way for a group of people to receive certain information, than a forum.

The My Series tech checklist that everyone fills out at a race, has a
place for the racer to fill in his e-mail address.

It's a lot easier to miss information that's posted in a forum than if it's
delivered to your e-mail inbox.

There is a point where I have to draw the line Jay I just had to spend $30 on the new one to go with all the other different ones. Doesn't make sense for me to have the endurance chassis as little as it is used.

Regardless of how the vote process is conducted, racers eligible to vote deserve to be notified. The track owners may not come on here much if it all, but many posts are made on their behalf by who appears to be an official. Many people don't have or check email. It wasn't mentioned anywhere else. To me that is just crazy.

I guess we can agree to disagree.

You guys act like this was some kind of an official election and a democracy. Florida My Series is NOT a democracy. It is run by the directors who are also the raceway owners.  The directors make the final decisions.

And who is allowed to vote? There is no voter registration. The directors reached out to all they could possibly reach out to via the email list and at TWO race events in October and November.

If you want to know the facts, all you have is to ask in a civil manner. Bill sent out hundreds of emails on the "vote", which was really an effort to see which way the wind is blowing. If you had given Bill your email address, than you received the email. And I believe you did receive the email and you ignored it. Again apathy.

Also, we had a brief meeting before the endurance race at Bill's track in October. Many ideas were shot around and got on the list for a vote. ALL participating My Series racers at that event could have had a say on any matter of importance to them. There was no restrictions. I had 3 items from my other post about 2017 rule changes and could not remember the 2nd one, so it did not make it on the ballot. (my fault) Secondly, Bill came to the Holly Hill race with ballots that he handed out to everyone in attendance. About 10 racers filled out a ballot and turned them in to Bill.  There are about 14 to 15 ballots that have been turned in at Holly Hill or via email reply.  Bill gave me the folder when he left so that I might be able to collect any more ballots at the end of the endurance race.

So, it comes down to the fact, Mike and Danny, that you blame me for not getting your bumper rule proposal on the ballot. Well, I could not even remember the 3 that I had; recalling only 2 out of 3. I guess that with the onset of dementia, remembering 2 out of 3 things is pretty good. So when you guys reach 67 years old and you can still race slot cars and remember everything, than you will be doing better than me. Congrats.

EDIT: And to make it very clear, I am NOT an official on My Series. I have been publishing the race results and keeping take of the driver points for 3 years as a volunteer. I get nothing out of it. I don't even get "LIKEs".

Charlie: you missed the whole point of this thread. Mike feels that he was insulted ("slap in the face") because his proposal was not included on the ballot. Please read the opening post of this thread and post #5.  Mike and Danny are saying that I am responsible for his proposal not being on the ballot. What total bull$hit.

Mike, you're proposal was not on the ballot. At least not the one that I received via mass email.

But if you didn't send or hand your proposal to Greg, Bill, Marcus, or Ed, didn't attend the October race in Melbourne, and didn't attend the November race at your home raceway in Holly Hill; then how was it supposed to be on the ballot with the other 11 items?  It sure looked like there were no restrictions regarding what was proposed.

If you did send it to those guys in person or via email, then you have every right to be steamed and you should take it up with whomever you gave it to.

As you pointed out about your testing ...... Maybe the guidelines are actually helping new racers by requiring them to improve their handling by keeping a 1/8" front and rear bumper.  I'm pretty sure most people can measure 1/8" -- or follow the cut line on a Parma or JK body.  Getting that body in the right position on the chassis is another story.  It's always amazed me how much time racers (me included) will spend trimming a body to try to get if off of the track instead of just punching a new hole for the body clip.  :)

Doc's right.  The Series isn't a democracy.  Yes, it might be helpful if the Track Owners would spend some time on the message board to see what's going on.  But none of these guys have too many posts to their name, so I don't think it's going to suddenly happen.  (And, if our Nation didn't have the Electoral College, then Al Gore would have been President in 2000 and Hillary in 2016.  There's something to ponder.)

What would be even better is if ALL racers spent more time in their closest raceway talking to the track owner and enjoying a little racing.

Regarding the GTP Enduro class ..... the reason that the Cheetah 21 chassis is used is because it's modeled after a class at P1 Slot Car Raceway in Winter Garden.  A few years ago, Dennis and a handful of other racers suggested using this class somewhere in the Series because they had so much fun racing it at Marcus'.  All agreed that there wasn't time to add the class in the monthly program, so it became the basis of the Enduro class.
