I am down to 4 sets of the longer Drag blocks for those who might be interested.

 

I can run more of these sooner than the full fixture if these sell out.

I designed this in Solidworks over a year ago with some of the parts tucked away just waiting for the time to work it in. This is extremely simple to use and should fit almost anything needing a body.

 

Plenty of room for the guide to be positioned where you need it. Note the undercuts for front wheel clearance.

The blocks slide along the slot and rotate about the bolt in the thumb screw for easy alignment.

Just center the chassis and tape it into place square and straight

Loosen the thumb screws and align the pointed pins with tubing / body pin hole. Then tighten to set position at all 4 locations.

Position body on the block as needed and push the pin through the body at all 4 locations.

Remove body and repeat. Just leave the chassis in place and mount as many bodies as you need. Leave it setup and you can just reposition another chassis to mount more bodies later.

 

I will only be making these in batches of 10 to keep machining cost down. $75 + USPS priority mail = $90

Here is a fixture with the longer rear blocks for the Drag Cars. The new blocks are about 1-5/16" longer and should be able to reach rear body mounts. The box is the same as the normal fixture.

I've only used this fixture a couple of times (it belonged to someone else), but I feel it is a tool that can be best described as similar to a chassis jig, except for bodies. it allows the builder (with a little practice) to mount bodies STRAIGHT the first time instead of (as Lee Gilbert once quipped) making the body into a pincushion. 

 

Perhaps not an essential tool- but one that can save time and lead to more consistent body mounting. For me- I have little free time to work on my race cars, so anything that saves time and leads to more consistent results is well worth the relatively small investment.

 

Note: The fixture that I purchased from Mark arrived yesterday. I was very impressed by the speed that it was shipped and how carefully it was packaged. A++ service all around & THANK YOU.

On the Drag Racing note, it appears the new longer blocks work better for the front as well. See pic below.

In the future I will offer these Body pinning fixtures as Standard (short blocks), Drag Racer (long blocks) or Combo ( both short and long blocks).

With the 2 units ready to ship I can do Drag Racer versions for $85 (4 long blocks) or Combo for $95 (both short and long). USPS shipping remains the same.
