Brass is all .032
1/2" guide lead
3.25" wheel base
.063 main rails
.047 bite bar
total weight minus body 71.4 grams
I wasn't sure how this was going to work as I thought it would be too light but to my surprise it worked quite nicely. The motor is a slick 7 mini brute as that was the closest thing I had to a F-2. The practice body was a Parma Mercedes CLK. I have a couple of retro 32 bodies on order.
A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

Still, a very nicely built chassis Ray.Phil, Mike Swiss actually started this design while experimenting with The Hot Rod Chassis's we run. He made a winning Can-Am and F-1 design also. This one is a Combo Z-Rail/Torsion design. I recall Mike mentioning that the Z-Rail thing was big with Euro Sports.............Hopefully he will chime in.............

So if I'm understanding the Z railscorrectly, the stops prevent the rails from flexing down, but allow them to flex up. You also get a lot more twist flex, correct?

his first scratchbuilt chassis ever.
It's a similar build to Ray's, but has something I've wanted to try,
3-.078 pcs. of wire on each side for the Z-rails.
The car not only looks nice, but handles well.
It's about 6 grams heavier than his Manta Ray car, but has plenty of spots to lighten it up a bit.

Cool, I was thinking of doing something similar with a Samurai 3. Actually the front piece has been modified for the additional rail width, I just haven't had time to build it.

I've been trying to race more of stuff I build, which in turn has led to improvements.
Next up is an F1 or 2, but those look like a whole new animal lol

Nice work you are gettin good a building your own stuff. I built 2 more stock cars myself. By the way Foster was a lot faster with the car Boggie ran then he was with the car he won with.
Oh by the way PDL says shaker cars should be illegal because they have movement in more then one direction. I think I might have to agree with him.
Keep up the good work.
